I left crying, walking out of Chuck's Steakhouse!
Carrie McKenna, GM, you should not be in hospitality.
Because of covid, there were new rules in place on where customers should sit. Unfortunately, we were not told by the hostess, so my fiancé moved two feet on the bench booth. He was immediately approached by a woman, who did not introduce herself but told him to move back, which he did immediately. We’ve never been asked to move seats even during covid. So my fiancé questioned the woman, which apparently she took offence to. I then suggested they leave a sign letting customers know they can’t sit in certain sections of the seat.
She told us we could leave the restaurant.
I have never had such an escalation at a restaurant and lack of understanding at our confusion. Every store and restaurant has different covid rules.
It might be pertinent to mention that I am Chinese and I saw others being treated much better even when they asked about the new covid rules.
We realized that this woman is actually the GM and at the end, I told her she had ruined our dinner.
She kept saying again and again how much she did not care, ‘I don’t care I don’t care’ until I was in tears in disbelief. How can a manager tell a customer how much she doesn’t care? Doesn’t she know that that’s her job?
It was not the covid rules we had a problem with, but her attitude.
Asking for an explanation for the rule is NOT illegal. He was never not complying. Yet this is what she keeps insisting justifies her horrendous attitude.
This was the worst dining experience of our lives and we left questioning how someone can be that inhuman. Every company has different covid rules. Having compassion would go a long way.
My sweet partner even left a tip, because he didn’t want to punish the staff.
Do better Carrie.
