We had dinner there this evening and the margarita's taste great -- but they were definitely virgin -- no taste of alcohol - we both had two and definitely no alcohol or just a splash. The meal tastes okay - but the red chili sauce that was suppose to be the spicy one over the green -- looked like barbeque sauce with chili pepper in it? If you order the chicken burrito -- count on a couple pieces of chicken? Now for the price end of it -- $12.95 for the average entrée -- $6.95 for just chips and salsa which usually comes FREE. The waitress was great and friendly and was doing the best job she could -- as we could hear Richard bossing her around on the back side of the fence when she is working her hardest to keep everyone happy.

I stopped in by here today as a first time customer, and it will not be the last. The Margareta's were terrific and the food was very very good, my mother and I had a great experience, the staff could not have nicer, look forward to the next time we visit this gem!

Decided to take a friend from out of town here to have a nice dinner. After standing around for 5 minutes, the owner greeted us with 'What do you want?' Once we got our seat, no on came to take our order (20 minutes). We eventually left without anyone really taking notice. Very poor service. I had the very strange feeling that the customer is regarded as a nuisance.

The food, drink, and service was wonderful. Richard is a man who knows what he's doing in the restaurant business. Having worked in the restaurant business myself, I had a ton of respect for Richard when he threw out a couple that was being obnoxious and just out looking for a free meal. If you're craving great food in an awesome outdoor area, look no further. This "soup nazi" has got it down. No b-llsh-t from irritating customers, which I personally CANT stand eating around either.

very poor restaurant‎ - ‎ - Today
I can't understand the people raving about the mango blue chicken enchiladas and the margaritas. These are both very mediocre and generic. Also the over use of chili powder in Mexican food is unforgiveable. Yuck! Very excentric, unfriendly owner. I thought he was a street person at first and my friends clued me in that he was the owner. Also very overpriced. $80 for two salads, two enchilada dinners, a side of Pace Picante sauce for $2.50, a beer and a few glasses of over priced wine. Wow! Will never return. Try Delicioso, La Mariposa or Efrains. Even Santiagos. This place was a total waste of time. We will never go back.

Bad day Richard?

We arrived early afternoon to find no other diners and Richard alone in the place seated at the register...we must have stood there at least a couple of minutes before his surly-toned remark, "want to see a menu?" He never even glanced our way...maybe he needs a customer service refresher course.

From that point lunch was adequate. However we could have done without Richard's insistence on telling us all about himself while we were trying to eat...egomaniac?

My experience at Richard's 3rd was indeed surreal. I can not comment on the quality of the food because my visit did not make it past the order. When I arrived for a late lunch there were only 5 people in the place and 3 of them were in my party. I am on a very strict diet and as I was ordering the Salmon salad requested that the pasta, and croutons be left off... no problem there but when I asked to have tomato and avocado added was told that there were no substitutes allowed, in fact he had run someone out of the restaurant for asking for substitutions. Think he was kidding me I asked to have them as sides and to be charged. Still the answer was no (and a belligerent no at that). Needless to say we left and went to a more customer friendly establishment at which I received all I asked for... including tomatoes and avocados on as side orders.

Unlike any other for miles around! The service is actually excellent, that is if you don't try to screw the place over. The only reason anyone wouldn't return would be because they got kicked out, and Richard- the "soup Nazi"- will not let them return. Amazing fresh mango blue corn green chile chicken or shrimp enchiladas, mussel rellenos, and the best margaritas I've ever had make Richard's on 3rd one of the most unique and unchained restaurants I've ever encountered. I would recommend it to anyone who isn't just trying to get a free meal.

review_stars 07/13/2009 - good meal
Well the food is great. That should make this place a winner. However, the owner, Richard is not so friendly at times. He is like the "soup Nazi" on Seinfeld only Southwestern style. I will never go back.
