Feels like visiting family. Welcoming, remembers name and preferences, waitresses among the best I’ve had the opportunity to know, and best gf mushroom burger ever

Four of us had lunch at Gary's today, May 7, 2023. It was very, very busy so our server, Theresa, was literally running. She still had a smile and a quick chat with everyone she was serving in spite of the pressure. Our food was excellent - hot and delicious - so five stars to Gary's for a terrific meal with excellent service.

We went to this restaurant a few years ago and enjoyed it. Our visit today was, perhaps, the worst restaurant experience we have ever had. It started with the waitress inviting us to sit in the 'comfy' chairs. These were dirty-looking cloth chairs that should not be being used during the COVID Pandemic as they can't be cleaned. We placed our order. I ordered fries with my shrimp and avocado croissant and my husband ordered a salad with his tuna melt. The cook got that mixed up. The waitress offered to take them back so the cook could fix his mistake but I just asked for extra plates to sort it out as I didn't want someone touching my food again. The tuna melt was luke-warm and looked like it was from the day before. He said it tasted as gross as it looked. After three bites of my croissant, I realized there was no avocado on it. I sent it back. The waitress took it back and then return THE SAME SANDWICH. The cook just added some guacamole. I sent that back and waited 10 minutes for a new one. It finally came and I ate a bit but asked for a container to take it home. It had about a teaspoon of guacamole and hardly any shrimp. They also still use styrofoam containers. While she was very nice, the waitress's shirt looked unclean. and she told us that the regular cook was outside having a smoke and the new cook had only been there 3 days. The waitress gave us 10% off. We will never go back. The restaurant looks worn, unclean and tired.

Just had lunch - very pleasantly surprised! Nice beef dip and salad. DW had shrimp/avocado sandwich on croissant. Excellent!!
