LOL @ the person bitching about this place. It's not one of those big city trendy restaurants, it's just fucking american chinese in Brownsville! All this foodie shit needs to stop, it's getting ridiculous!

Anyway, Lotus Inn is decent. This is the way to go if you want a decent meal for a cheap price.

I ate with my son Sept. 2, 2009 and we paid $38.00 for a lousy meal!
I ordered a miso soup which tasted like dead fish so I returned it and the order was cancelled.
I ordered an old fashioned cocktail which was all soda and tasted flat..
We asked if the meal came with soup and they said no. In Alton Gloor they served us soup without being the combination plate.
My son wanted rice noodles. In Alton Gloor Lotus Inn the noodles were flat but the beef was tough. In Price Rd they were soggy stick noodles.
Since I felt like having duck, the two reasonably priced choices were boneless duck crisps for $8.95 or duck in ginger sauce for $12.95 (the other choice was Peking duck for $26.00). I also ordered a side order of the rice noodles.
The side order contained the same soggy noodles as my son's.
The duck in ginger sauce had a lot of vegetables (good), but only three pieces of "duck" meat with a tremendous amount of fat and the rest was over roasted or fried skin which tasted like leather. The whole thing tasted overheated.
I asked the waiter if I could speak to the chef. I told him I would pay for the dish, but that this dish was indecent.
A lot of movement in the kitchen continued with all the staff looking at me.
The waiter did not bring us any fortune cookies or anything.
I got up to inquire and one of the staff told me I had to go to the kitchen door as the chef could not come out.
I tell the chef that there was only three pieces of meat. He said that the duck is very fat. I said that it was unethical to load the dish with fat skin and charge $12.95. They just looked at me…all were Hispanic, not one was Asian.
The lady who charged me said that all the meat goes to the boneless crisps (the cheaper dish)! I could not believe it.
I went hungry and my son had indigestion that night
All this confirms the terrible reputation Chinese restaurants have.
