I am a young single mother with a diverse background. I live locally and am yet to have a positive experience with this store sadly. :(
First of all, the are not accommodating to those with struggle with low-income finances. (They do not accept EBT.)
Second, there is no diversity what-so-ever among their hired staff. If you are white and male, you are likely to be hired there.
Third, recently, I was going to catch the bus downtown and needed to break a $5 and get change. I walked up to the counter and asked the white male working on register. To my right, a white woman was approaching with her groceries. He looks at me, and looks at her and says, "oh, sure, let me ring her out first." I said, "uh, I was here first, I'm trying to catch the bus." He ignores me and continues to ring her out anyway.
I found this to be quite disturbing, so I left the store with my child. I immediately called and complained because, frankly, I'm sick of this being treated like I am secondary to a race. I believe in equality and equal opportunity. This store has failed to demonstrate this human right so I refuse to shop there any longer and would also encourage you to as well. There are better stores that support and embrace diversity and basic human rights.
