Not sure why my first review, listed below, was listed as 4 stars as I am sure that isn't what I rated. So to even it out and more correctly rate my experience herr is a 1.

just tried to order some take out, but was told they can't do take out because there booked tonight. theres something wrong with that statement.. did she confuse "i'd like some take out" with "i'd like to make a reservation"

I'm surprised by all the negative reviews because I've never had a bad experience at A Single Pebble. Granted, I generally go for lunch, when it's much less crowded and the waitstaff isn't overstressed.
Their food is wonderful - try their "tasting menu," which is only $15 at lunch time and consists of 6 to 8 smaller courses of delectable surprises. It's a great way to try a lot of different dishes that would otherwise cost MUCH more to order individually. And don't be fooled by the small plates, you leave feeling VERY satisfied.

Waitress was rude right from the beginning and never came back to see how the meal was or if we needed anything. Portions were small and food was luke warm. Flavor was just ok. This place has really gone downhill and I won't be back.

My experience at A Single Pebble rounded out to be quite negative. It began with a hostess who was extremely rude and pretentious. She placed us behind a curtain in a part of the restaurant that went largely unattended because we did not have a reservation. The restaurant was half empty.
We proceeded to order a glass of iced tea for each of us. That didn't work well, either. Only one of the glasses received a refill, and it came back opaque. Not just murky. Opaque. When requesting a new glass, we were informed that it would take an hour to brew a new batch of tea and were offered another drink option. When the diet coke came back, we'd been charged another two dollars for it.
The food was a mixed bag. The eggplant dish we ordered was excellent. The other two dishes could have been vastly improved. None of them were worth the price they charged.

We ordered Water Boild Beef. I am Chinese and I know the flavor is not right. Also the portion is too small as an entree. The other entree is Tan Tan Noodle. It is not bad but it is definitely not right flavor. This entree tasted more like Thai style noodles.

Don't blame it on the waitress, I've had her before and she's kind of rude to me, too. I think the food might come out like that because IT'S SUPPOSED TO. The portions depend on where it's placed in the menu, if you order a small dish then it's not going to be huge. I don't think the previous person has ever been to a restaurant where the portions weren't "real generous portions." If you want bigger portions, go to TGIF or olive garden.
The food at single pebble is so good, I love their many mushroom tofu, five flavor chicken, dumplings, fried rice, lemon chicken...basically everything. Try their tea, too.

Meh. Went early Thursday evening. We were told food was served "family style". According to the waitress this meant "Whenever your food is ready it comes out so don't expect your dinners at the same time." My friend asked that our dinners come out at the same time. Waitress response as she rolled her eyes "WWWEEEELLLL I'll SEEEE what I can DO." Food was okay not spectacular. I was hungry an hour after getting home...not real generous portions. I will not be back. Lemon Grass In So Burlington was much better.

Best Asian/Chinese in the Burlington area. The mock duck is outstanding.
