I was with the above party of 7 and made the reservations. Due to lack of staff training it was painful to make reservations by phone I had to repeat myself 4 times. They did give our table away and sent us to the bar where they would not allow us to our order drinks and put them on our dinner tab nor would they come take our orders where we were seated. Very unprofessional & unwelcoming. Everything ordered took a looonnnngggg time from drinks, appetizers to entrees which did not arrive at the same time. Some were about done eating before the next meals arrived. The General Mgr did come talk to us and apologized for the untrained staff but this is Tourist Season and they should be trained and ready way before Mid June. I wish I could say I recommend them but I can't. They need to communicate with their staff to work on customer service skills and their cooks to learn to not overcook the Halibut and the temps to cook at to avoid more oil on your plate that in the deep fryer. Our group was a happy one but the food and service at Silver Gulch was less than satisfactory. Oh & forget the Gift Shop they were out of everything!!!

Making reservations was a waste of time. A party of 7, one on crutches, show up 10 minutes before reservation, to find out table was given to a group that walked in without reservations. Restaurant wanted to place is on second floor with no restroom with a member of the party unable to negotiate stairs, no elevator. After waiting for a table to open in ground floor, waiting is something we did a lot of, we did get a table. While waiting in chairs we asked for drinks, had to stand at bar and pay for drinks, they will not put them on dinner bill. Then the waiting began again. When ordering drinks order two, or you will sit with an empty glass waiting to order another. This will be followed by more waiting for the drink. After 1 hour 45 minutes you can get your appetizer. When the meals arrive, 20 minutes appart, some are cold, some over cooked, some needed extra napkins to soak up the oil from the fryer, it will difficult to get drinks again to go with the meal. The only thing that did not require a wait was the ketchup. So if you are into waiting, having meals brought to the table at different times (over cooked, cold, and greesy) but like ketchup, this is the restaurant for you.

the silver gulch is a mess the management has no communication the employees that skip out on work and cheat the system get the most and the employees that are faithful and hard working for the company do not get any credit. you never know what you will get when you show up for work horrible place to work. and eat. over priced food slow service because they do not hire people with experience in the kitchen and all the good kitchen crew quit because of the poor management.

Silver Gulch provided the worst service I've received at any restaurant in Alaska.
CONS: 1.Seated a half hour late for a reservation made in a timely fashion. On a midweek, low volume night.
2. Seated the five of us at a table meant for four. Four of the five of us are over six foot tall.
3. Even though orders were taken promptly, it took ten minutes for the drinks to arrive. The appetizer took another tfifteen minutes to arrive.
4. The food (ordinary burger fare) took forty-five minutes to arrive at the table.
5. Part of each meal was warm, none was hot.
6. The two well-done burgers were dry beyond reckoning.
7. All at the table had empty glasses the final fifteen to twenty minutes of this meal...on a hot night.
8. Hideously overpriced. $10 for nine onion rings.
9. Entrees and drinks poor to mediocre quality.
PROS: 1. Good question. The onion rings were very good, almost worth a dollar apiece.
