Everything Was Just So Right,
Thank You to Pete and the chef
At Gretl's Bistro for a
Pleasant and Wonderful
Fathers Day Dining Experience
What a wonderful day, Can't say in words what a beautiful little place Gretl's Bistro on Hwy1 in Boca Ration is. I know where I am going for my B-Day. We started off with a basket of Dark/Light Rye Bread with a very nice spiced butter spread and 2 piping hot pretzels with a really good thick sour cream and a thick spicy mustard, I enjoyed thoroughly the Spaten Dark ( will have to ask the name) and this was the first time to try a Schoefferhofer Grapefruit Beer, Wife Loved it and it is the first one other than a San Miguel that she drank the whole glass. Kids got the Spatzle Käsesoße ( Austrian Mac n Cheese ) which if I Closed my eyes was mom's Potatoes Au Gratin ) the cheese was so wonderfully thick and gooey it would have taken 2 more slices of bread or pretzel's to clean up one of the kids bowls. Wife and I both did the Early Bird Special's, she did Jager Hähnchen and I did Sauerbraten, all out German with a cup of Potato Soup which was rich and creamy, new potato's with just the right bite texture and I dare say a touch of dill ( please chef correct me if I am wrong) wish we had brought a couple quarts of this home to enjoy more. Jhoy's fried chicken breast was perfection on a plate and it damn near covered the plate smothered in a wonderful creamy mushroom sauce. For me the beef filet melted in my mouth and rejoiced in the sweet/vinegar sauce covering it, we both had the German Potato Salad and Red Cabbage both of which where köstlich ( delicious) again right textures and taste unbelievably good. All of us had the Apple Strudel ( Maxen picked Cherry ) so light and crispy was the pastry and thick and delicately sweetened was the filling just Heaven in Your Mouth.
