Top Reviews of Cobblestone Cafe

The Cobblestone Cafe is not a culinary celebration. Three of us were dining, and everyone ordered from the Early Prix Fixe Menu, which includes soup or salad, entrée, and dessert for $15.95. I got a free appetizer sampler by using a coupon printed from online. The appetizer sampler, which consisted of 3 quarter size crab cakes, coconut-crusted shrimp and scallops, grilled tuna, and a shredded salad, was tasty and well-prepared. I ordered an extra crab cake appetizer for $8.95 and received only one three-inch crab cake which was not worth the cost. The bread rolls were delicious and hot out of the oven. Although the lobster bisque tasted good, it was too salty. We had to gulp water while eating the bisque to cut the saltiness. The lamb shank in rosemary-wine sauce was very tender but did not have any flavor or seasoning. The rosemary-wine sauce tasted so weak that I could not tell that rosemary or Cabaret wine was used in the dish. Plus, they did not give enough of the so-called rosemary-wine sauce to moisten the lamb so it was dry and tasteless. The carrots, green beans, and red bell peppers accompanying the meals were undercooked and freezer burned. The garlic mashed potatoes and red cabbage tasted good. My friend had the almondine trout, which was flavorless without any seasoning at all. When it came time to order our desserts which were included with the Early Prix Fixe Menu, the waitress named the linzertorte (raspberry cookie), oatmeal pie, ice cream, and sorbet as the only desserts to choose from. She conveniently failed to mention the brownie sundae or the cheesecake as part of the selection (because the brownie and cheesecake are more expensive than a scoop of ice cream or a cookie) although they were listed as being included on the Early Prix Fixe Menu. I remembered the brownie sundae being on the menu so I ordered it. My friend asked for a dessert menu, but the waitress would not bring it. My brownie was so hard and dry that I could not eat it. However, the oatmeal pie was good. The service was extremely slow although there were only three other tables of customers, and the staff was unfriendly. They acted as though they were too busy to answer questions and take our order. The Cobblestone Café’s food is edible but not enjoyable or exceptional. None of us would eat at it again.
