Shrimp was very good, but it wasn't hot. The waitress made a mistake & didn't order my Flounder Fish special, when the shrimp came out she apologized, we told her to cancel the fish. Then she came back & said they couldn't cancel because they had already put it in the fryer. The manager said it was fine since it was going to be delayed. I think she had been waiting for the fish & thats why the shrimp wasn't hot the flavor was good so we ate it cold. She had already sent out all the side so we ate them too. When we got the check she charged us $7.00 for the 2 sides that were supposed to come with the fish special, the whole special was only $10.95. For $3.95 more I should have just gotten the fish. Usually I tip 25% because she charge for side without telling us I only tipped 15%. She should have told us we were going to be charged so much for the sides. They raved about the coconut cream pie, so we got one to go. We were told it's all made from scratch by a special pie lady, but the filling tasted like instant pudding, it was too salty and seemed to have a Crisco crust not worth the $8.00 we were charge for a small slice of imitation (instant pudding) pie filling. I do make my pies from scratch & always use an all butter crust, & natural ingredients for filling, perhaps I'm just to fussy. Maybe the Key Lime Pie is the better choice.

Over price food and cook in old grease don't know why but some thing change used to be a good restaurant but the food used to be good. And change there amounts of food they give for the price less food more money I going. Back to seafood kitchen on a1a at the beach.

My wife and myself love the food at this restaurant. It’s always excellent and tasty. We especially love the shrimp that they offer. It’s the best around!!

Incredible FRIED 🦐 SHRIMP. I've never seen the light golden brown fried batter and the unique butterfly and original "shrimp sauce." Mmmmmm we're going back tomorrow

We have been going to O’Steens for decades. The food is the best I have ever eaten anywhere. We have never gotten a bad meal. Never bad service. Now……some of the waitresses are a little sharper than some of the others but none are anywhere near bad. We are usually here for a few days and we usually eat at least one meal a day there. Have eaten twice a day! It’s that good. You can certainly get a more expensive meal and if you want a bunch of fancy sides you might want to try other places but for delicious food at reasonable prices O’STEEN’S is the place to go.
Only one drawback. It is a small dining room. You may have to wait at peak times but we have never left because of having to wait.

The absolutely best fried shrimp and daily specials in the St. Augustine area.
The very best Minorcan clam chowder anywhere!
In addition, the prices are extremely reasonable.
No credit or debit cards accepted.

Best fried shrimp ever!!!!! If I'm not staying in St. Augustine, I make a detour just to eat there, well worth the side trip. Happy 50th Anniversary O'Steen's.
