This was the second visit and having waited for over a year to return has been my loss. These dear folks get everything correct with no mediocrity. There have been a few additions to the menu that indicate their dedication to aspire to an even higher level than that which was experienced before....such as Agave Chipotle glazed ribs small plate ($7), Gulf Shrimp & Yellow Fin Tuna tacos ($4), Special Pork Chops....and more in addition to many other great appetizers, salads, and entrees. If you love guacamole then try their outstanding version made fresh at table side. Although I did not order alcohol there is now a very well stocked bar. Next time I will try their Margarita as it is available also as a call drink. For those who don't know, the building is only a short 2-3 blocks from the beach and sits in an area that was wiped clean from the forces of Katrina. Now rebuilt as a new entity, it exudes classic understated charm, is clean inside and out, and there is a brick patio area should you prefer to eat and drink outdoors. Someone with fine taste in decor has done a splendid job of using old world materials and rustic style cues all from the ground up. It feels good to be there. This quiet location represents one of the best kept secrets in the neighborhood. Service is nothing less than first class without being pretentious (no white table cloths but clean starched white linen napkins) and the staff works together rather than observing 'zone' treatment. The pricing is fair considering the freshness and quality of fare with attention to details in flavors and sauces....VALUE. BTW: Any menu item is sure to delight - but be aware - if you are expecting the same 'ole standard Mexican fare then they do not do this here. Did I mention that the service is right up there at the top without pretentiousness? The only suggestion I might offer is the option of fresh course chopped salsa as an alternative to the fresh pureed version served with house made chips upon arrival (also very good but not my preference). You may enjoy a multi tapas approach for your meal rather than one entree so that you and/or your party can enjoy more than just one delight. Do not miss this fine little gem of the coast. Enjoy it!
