We absolutely love Monte Alban and have loved it for years. I just placed an order to go and, as always, it will be ready in twenty minutes. I am puzzled by the few negative reviews that are posted, because we have always thoroughly enjoyed Monte Alban, regardless of whether we dined at the restaurant or placed orders to take out. I have eaten at Mexican restaurants in the barrio in Tucson, AZ, San Antonio, TX and Gallup, NM. Monte Alban at least equals all of them. True, it is not upscale Mexican food such as one might find at Besito, but it has always been well prepared, everyone in the family has enjoyed it, and the staff has always been wonderful to us. It is truly a gem and deserves a much larger following.

They're great if you go in and eat but if you try to order take out you'll wait 40 minutes; watch two groups come in, eat and leave; and have to ask about your food before you're remembered. Then you'll get your food and they'll ask for payment after you've already paid. You'll check your food and it will be wrong. They'll fix it and tell you "No charge". For what?? I've already paid! As I've told you already!

I have been a client of theirs for years and i know how their food is made, natural, home made and authentic, they will never over charge clients and always look to satisfy their customers.Under cooked??? i really doubt it. I have tried diferent Mexican restaurants and I can tell this one is THE BEST by far. I strongly recomend their food.

very bad experience with this restaurant. Don't waste your money here. I ordered take out from this place for my lunch. The food was uncooked, and upset my stomach.When I took it back, they only want to refund me 1/3 of what I paid. I paid $ 17. i understand the business so I offered them to charge me for the sides that i ate. The manager thought that i'm stupid that he will charge me $ 11 for the side and only giving me back $ 6 for the main dish.By the way, the one that's uncooked is the main dish. If this thing happens to other restaurant, they will offer to give you back the whole amount you paid plus extras. But it didn't happen here. they didn't handle the situation very well., and still try to make money. No wonder, I didn't see much people eating on this place. If you really want to eat a good mexican food, definitely not on this place.I will NEVER EVER go back to this place again!!!!!

Dianne (who slammed Monte Alban in her "review") must have been in some other restaurant? I spent 30 days at a time for a few years in Mexico, and have also eaten at many so-called Mexican restaurants in the USA. MONTE ALBAN is hands-down the winner. Even in the southwest you'll be hard-pressed to find authentic cooking like this. Nowhere else in the USA, to my knowledge, can you find Chilaquiles!!! Not easy in Mexico either. ¡Los gringos tienen cuidado -- esto es alimento mexicano verdadero!
