My family and I have a number of choices for Thai food closer to our home so it speaks well that we're willing to drive all the way to Shield Plaza when we want good Thai food at a good price. The Thai room is sandwiched between A Dong big Asian Market and Pho Boston. Ahh if you want to wait and eat over priced so-so food go for Pho its packed and although we've tried it each time given the choice its always unanimous Thai room wins out.

The food was DELICIOUS! The place itself is pretty empty (probably because it's crammed between a bunch of other stores), but the food is amazing & the employees are extremely sweet. They even bow lol. Kinda funny. The pineapple fried rice & green tea ice cream w/ sticky rice was so amazing it can only be described with an 'mmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!' It sounded a little nasty so I was apprehensive, but that opinion quickly changed after one bite. I can't wait to go back. I'll never eat chinese again, it doesnt compare! & at least it kept me full lol. I don't knw why that other review was so negative because it's now one of my fav restaurants.

If you know and like authentic Thai food then you should like this restaurant very much. Having lived in Asia for years and, having spent considerable time in Thailand, we have been largely disappointed by most Thai restaurants in the U.S. After moving to the Hartford area and finding most Thai and Asian restaurants typically disappointing, we were very happily surprised to realize that this unassuming restaurant puts out some truly wonderful, authentic and delicious Thai food using good quality ingredients with an emphasis on fresh produce. Part of their authenticity does include the true Thai interpretation of what is hot/spicy so unless you like VERY hot dishes, have them dial back the heat on your food. I usually take things medium to hot but their "medium" is just a bit too hot even for me. The staff is also very authentic in their kind, courteous service. I am amazed that they don't seem to pull in more customers but I guess some people think it takes a pool of grease & soy sauce to make an "Asian" dish complete. The good thing for customers who want truly good Thai is that they never need to wait for a table here. We most highly recommend this restaurant and if you aren't sure what real Thai food is, just have an open mind and give your palate a break from greasy, salty "Asian" dishes.

This place is a Jem in Hartford. The food is spectacular. I usually do not order fish at a resturant but I gave it a try and the Red Chilli Snapper is delicous. I would recommend the Beef salad, papaya salad(spicy means hot!) and the Shrimp Pad Thai. Thats not all the Panang duck is my favorite dish. If you are a vegetarian they have great dishes with amazing flavor. I've eaten at all the resturants "Dave" likes and this place is far better than all of them.

Oh yeah try the Tum Yum soup!! My dad likes to order Pho and he is Vietnamese.

We have eaten here on a number of occasions and love the food. Ambiance is not the greatest but it is clean and the staff is attentive and very polite.

I'll be dining here today at the advice of Xou. Dave's review was very harsh, but I'm glad Xou gave another outlook of Thai Room, I'll be back to give my feedback later :-)

This is true authentic Thai and Lao food. If you like Lemon Grass then you wont like this place because Lemon Grass is a socialized (aka made to please white ppl like Dave below) resturant. Thai and Lao DO NOT EAT WITH SOY SAUCE! It's not a Chinese or Vietnamese resturant and its not grease ridden. If you want to eat traditional Thai food that is both healthy for you and made the way a Thai King would love... go to Thai Room! :)

I am a die-hard Thai food lover. This place nearly made me commit suicide.
Only take your enemies to this place (but dont eat yourself).
I guess everyone pretty much knows that this place sucks big-time, hence it was completely empty (we were the only people) on a Saturday night.
The worst aspect of this place is their food!
It sucks like there are no words to describe it.
They dont use little to almost no soy sauce in their dishes which makes all of their dishes taste as if it is boiled food without any flavoring or spices.
Their fried rice's and curries are not even closer to being called Thai food compared to other Thai restaurants like Viengthong, Siam, Lemon Grass, Hot Basil etc.
I am not a competing Thai restaurant owner. I am a normal restaurant goer just like you. Hence, I am cautioning you. Dont go to this place.
