The Fernwood is the place to go for raal home style cooking. It has recently gone through some renovations ( ie new booths,painting which makes the room much brighter,a large flatscreen TV in the bar area, seasonal outdoor dining) and they have startedhaving live music on saturday nights ! the wait staff have been there for years and they all take an active interest in their business. Nice retro backgroung music..frank sinatra,tony bennett, etc.. A great alternative to chain restaurants West Hartfords best kept secret.!!

Soup was excellent. Entree (ground sirloin with mashed potatoes and gravy was strictly home made quality and ranks with the best i've ever tasted)! Nice no frills atmosphere. Friendly service.

Nice family neighborhood restaurant. Food is good and reasonably priced. Casual atmosphere. Soups are homemade and very good.

Love this place - great soups, friendly staff, very homey/family atmosphere. Great old fashioned food in a world overrun with chain restaurants.
