I lived in Japan for many years and have never found a restaurant that is affordable and what I consider authentic to the special care that goes into preparing Japanese cuisine. Restaurant Saito tops them all. A little "Hole in the wall" and you'de least expect it but the food is so good. I have some friends from Japan that come out to Ewa Beach just to have their Unagi Teishiku. I especially love their miso butterfish, pork chiri and wafu steak! You can get it set with tempura or a tempura sashimi combo! I have never been disappointed. Expect to wait a bit because it is basically a one server, one cook restaurant. However, it's worth the wait!

Exceptional...
The food is delicious: crispy tempura, tender sizzling wafu steak, hot nabeyaki udon and more.
Typical...
a small "hole in the wall" neighborhood eatery.
One waitress/cashier, no fancy decor, but who cares. Go to Restaurant Saito when you are not in a rush and be prepared to eat a meal that will rival some of the fancier Japanese restaurants in town.
