Great burgers! Great music! Had an awesome experience. We come to Hilton Head often but had never eaten here. We will come back.

New to the area from L.A. my son and I went to Char Bar for restaurant week. Yipes. So many things wrong. Where should I start? That afternoon I called to make a reservation for 7:00pm. The hostess? responded to my request like I was nuts, but took the reservation. We arrived at 6:45 for drinks. The small bar was full. There was a seating area with sofas and tables that almost looked inviting. I say almost because it was not usable. The musician had equipment strewn all over the sofas. So instead of having a drink, which could have added to the proprietors profits, we stood in a tiny doorway with another couple. They did not have a reservation. I did. Aren't I on the ball. Not. They were seated. In fact three other parties without reservations were seated as we continued to wait. The hostess was waiting for a tiny table in front of the bus station in the back to open for us. Ah yes. Not really a dank corner, but the enchanted grotto. Before we could open the menu a waitress? appeared and took our drink order. Out of shear thirst, rather seeing what they offered I ordered a draft beer. She returned nine minutes later with drinks. For serving standards, that's along time. She was without a doubt one of the most unprofessional servers I've ever had to endure. For some strange reason she kept screaming. She only addressed me and totally ignored my son. Even when she brought the bill, she gave it to me, not him. He's 27 years old and did in fact pay. The only words that were exchanged were "Mam, the restaurant week is on this, mam" and handed me a stand up. We were actually served by what appeared to be another high school girl who had to auction off the plates. All the females were dressed in yoga pants which I found amusing attire for a carnivorous based menu. Our waitress did return. She mammed me twice as she slapped the folio down in front of me. Prior to calling that afternoon we had looked at the menu complete with photos of the food.Well, need-less-to-say, the food did not resemble the descriptions or the pictures. The burgers and fries are way better at five guys. But we also chose the Char Bar because I wanted to hear some live music. The guitar/vocalist was there. But get this. And remember it was 32 degrees that night. The sound system was set up for outdoor listening. As we left I finally heard him outside where there was one lonely guy having a smoke. All this for $48.00. Two greasy burgers on balloon buns, frozen onion rings and crunchy fries. Oh, yeah the two draft beers. Such a deal.
