Although the atmosphere was nice and the food was good, I am sorry to say that there was NO WAY my ribeye steak was prime as they claimed. When it came to the table you could just visually see the lack of marbling and it was super tough for a prime ribeye. I did not complain because it was still ok and we were with a group and was not going to cause a stir. But I know this is a common practice in many many restaurants and with the lack of prime available out there it does not surprise me at all. It just now makes me question about going back as clearly they are being dishonest on their menu.

WARNING . This place is breaking the required health law and endangering people’s health . If you want a place where none of the waiters, host or cooks wear masks and cough and sneeze all over your food and on you an inch from your face, by all means visit this place . There was also no social distancing and the owner ( or host) who came within a few inches of our face mocked us when we came in with masks . We thought we’d ignore him as we were hungry , so we proceeded up the stairs only to encounter other staff including wait staff sneezing and coughing on food and on us as we passed . The last straw was the profanity message (F word) on their bright flashing sign towards local leaders requiring reasonable health regulations to keep us safe during the highly contagious pandemic . If they are this boldly disrespectful towards patrons , including children who get coughed on and who see the profanity word flashing proudly as they pass and whose food gets coughed on and sneezed on by unmasked wait staff and cooks , then can you imagine what kind of unsanitary practices they practice behind the scenes ?! Needless to say we decided to walk out of this place before even ordering and we will never ever give them business no matter how long we live in Algonquin. We’ve lived here 30 years and have never had this experience at any other restaurant . We decided to take a walk in downtown Algonquin, and every other restaurants including Port Edwards, Black Bear Bistro, Cucina Bella, and our favorite Cattleman’s ALL followed the health guidelines and required their wait staff to wear masks and maintain social distances. We ate an incredible meal at Black Bear Bistro and look forward to dining again at all our favorite restaurants that follow safety standards and are about their customers and workers health and safety . We have and will continue to frequent all these amazing restaurants that not only have amazing food but also respect their customers and workers enough to require workers to wear masks and customers to social distance and who follow mandatory health and safety standards . I’ll be reporting them to the Health Department and Village tomorrow.
