OMG! I am not a prime rib fan but Big G's has the ultimate best prime rib you will every eat. It's barbequed to perfection. I have also had other menu items. Simply the best around. The staff and the owner's are so friendly and so down to earth and very generous. Try the smoked bacon on a hamburger with cheese! And homemade pies, oh yah. Can't beat this place. I am definately going back whenever I am in town. LOVE IT!!!!!

My girlfriend and I just ate at Big G's tonight. Couldn't have been a better choice. We got there at 8:30 and they close at 9:00. We were the only people in the place and we got excellent service despite them having to accommodate us in the last half hour.
I had the 1/2 Chicken 1/4 Slab St Louis Style Ribs dinner with Baked Beans and French Fries. The Chicken was good but the Ribs were amazing. I am a huge fan of Big Daddy's BBQ which is a legend in and around central Iowa and I must say the special BBQ the owner makes at Big G's almost knocks Big Daddy's off of the throne.
As for the person who said the gumbo was bad in their review they must of simply gotten a bad batch because the owner asked me if I liked spicy food and offered me an entire cup of gumbo free of charge just to try it. The Gumbo was awesome. It had a nice cajun spiciness to it but it wasn't so hot that it was unbearable.
They even asked us what music we wanted to listen to when we came in. I highly recommend Big G's to anyone who is a fan of good homemade BBQ cooking in a nice Mom and Pop type of restaurant. You must also try the pie after your dinner specifically the Snicker's pie which was amazing to say the least.

the food is great, order a steak and it was cooked to perfection! The staff was very friendly and attentive. The whole place was quaint, charming and clean (excpecially the restrooms!). Our cousin had an event there and just couldn't quit talking about it. So we decided to check it out and was not disappointed.

My wife brought home a brisket sandwich that was catered into her work.
Just the right amount of smoke flavor, moist and lots of it. Served without sauce (that's a good thing) great flavor and great bark on the brisket.

That was the most disgusting gumbo I have ever had. It was bland, the rice was mushy, the sausage had no flavor. My husband ordered his steak "medium," and it was half cooked and half completely raw. We had a bad experience there.
