China King in Smithville has always been a good value for the money and the freshest food to eat in or take out. Tasty and healthy too with a very short wait time. Now there are lunch and dinner specials that make eating there even more economical. I have never been disappointed with any purchase. I know it could happen but the manager will make it right.

Last week I went to China King for takeout. The cooks were busy on orders and working very industriously and efficiently. When it came time to present the meal it was like greeting old friends. I really appreciate fresh quality and friendly service at a reasonable price. Meat and produce prices are much higher than18 months ago. Their generous portions mean a great value for my family. I have been there before and will go back soon and often. We get the same great flavor as the high class restaurants. So glad they're in town.

It's been a while since I was at this China King in Smithville MO. I must say that when I first pulled up in my car I thought the place was closed. Their sign was only half working, "King" didn't light up. Also there was only a very small amount of light coming through the doors, the top of the doors and the sides were all covered up with a very dark shade that didn't allow the lighting from the restaurant to shine through.
I called ahead and my order was almost ready when I arrived. I informed the female clerk that I drove 20 (one way) to get there and I wanted to make sure my order was all there. She informed it was. When she told me the price I was floored!! Each item cost more than what it said on the menu prices, some were way more. When I received the order I went over to get the condiments, then a guy from the back came up to me and said I didn't get all my crab rangoon. He took my largest bag from me and walked over to a table and put in my 8 piece order of crab rangoon. I asked him if my order was all there and he said yes. Right then I had a feeling that I should have made him take it all out and make sure. After driving 20 miles home and taking out the order, I didn't receive an egg roll that went with a dinner and I also didn't receive the white rice that went with my quart of cashew chicken. I immediately called the restaurant, the man I had spoken with at the restaurant said his name was David, I informed him of what I didn't receive. I told him he ruined my dinner! He said he was the manager, not the owner. I asked to speak with the owner, he didn't seem to know the name. He offered me rice if I came back! I told him I wasn't driving another round trip of 40 miles to get the rice I should have gotten in the first place. I informed him I would call back tomorrow.
I have no idea who owns this place now but the service was not the same as it was a couple years ago. The inside of the restaurant looked dingy and not at all inviting.
I will be asking for some type of a refund tomorrow when I call back, hoping to speak with the owner. We will see!! I will NOT be going back again.

I just read my own review and I left out a few details. When I said the prices at the restaurant were higher than the menu, I'm talking about the menu here on this website under the tab, full menu. I was under the impression that these would be that restaurant's prices, but they aren't. Also, I forgot to say how the food tasted..... It was okay, but I have tasted much better. I ended up going out to the store and buying and then cooking my own rice, since I didn't get any with more order. Maybe if I would have gotten to eat my food after returning home it would have been better being hotter. I will never know.......... since my order was imcomplete. This used to be my favorite Chinese Restaurant....... too bad for the owner, thinking a new manager is in order.
