The food is good here, and I like supporting a locally owned place, but it is high-priced - $4.75 for an egg salad sandwich on wheat bread. I've ordered the house special salad several times, which is a delicious salad! However, the portion size seems to get smaller each time I order it. The service is a
about as bad as it gets - it seems as if they are annoyed that you're ordering from them, and this is a consistent attitude. Doesn't change even if you show your face often enough for just one person to offer recognition. Just kinda leaves you feeling uncomfortable and ready to leave, which is why I always get it to go. And why I will probably not go back any time soon as I feel pretty jipped on the portion size.

The soups are delicious and so are the scoops. I sometimes order the egg salad sandwich which is rarely on the menu at restaurants and it's very good as well. There is an ice cream sunday bar too.
It is a small place with a few tables and no ambience to speak of, although it is a good place to take children and friends for ice cream sundays.
The ice cream cakes are fabulous although pricey. They are my husband's favorite kind of cake. Mine too.

GREAT soups that are well worth the money. Great ice cream. Atmosphere is a bit lacking.

I have been going to this cafe for over 5 years, it looks like it may have gone through a few ownership/manager changes as staff and others seem to come and go. The soup is top notch but the service can be a bit weird. The staff are not always very cheery and it can be a bit of a drag being served by them. Some of the prices are a little high, 99 cents for a bread roll that's no bigger than a kids size. I was in there recently and asked for a grilled cheese sandwich instead of a regular when I ordered the "west end sampler", a full grilled cheese is less than a half regular sandwich, I was charged 50 cents more, but still only received half a grilled cheese. I basically paid over $3 for half a grilled cheese sandwich? It made no sense, but I couldn't be bothered mentioning it. If the staff don't enjoy serving the public, they need to find other jobs, customer service is everything..........
