This restaurant would not honor my Groupon for the full deal amount.
The deal clearly states that customers would pay $15 for $30 worth of food, plus two hot sake drinks. It is listed as a $42 value for $15.
When we presented the Groupon, we were told that Groupon made a mistake and that we should contact Groupon regarding the confusion, and were told that many other customers had "made the same mistake."
There was no confusion, there was no mistake. The deal clearly stated that customers would receive $30 worth of food, plus two hot sakes. The fine print even said that customers that were younger than 21 years of age wouldn't be given the alcohol (listed in the terms of the deal).
While we were there, the merchant pretended to contact Groupon to voice their problems with the listed advertisement.
This is obviously a practice of "bait and switch" that the merchant was using, and it is quite disgusting.
There were others at the restaurant that were also voicing their disgust with the fact that the merchant would not honor their own deal. There was no mistaking what the deal was offering.
The merchant got what they wanted - a whole bunch of customers, without having to give what they were offering.
It is penny-wise and pound foolish. They could have just given us two hot sakes, but now, we will never go back, and hopefully, nor will you!
