Caffe Carrerra is just what one hopes for in a little neighborhood restaurant but what you don't get. The owner is always surly and unaccommodating. He makes a point to invite special food requests but will pan you for them. If you are a party of two, you are penalized by being put at a tiny table across from the kitchen in the only narrow, single-file walkway between the front door and back bathroom. The owner makes clear that he regards a party of two to be a low-profit, nuisance factor and won't even take reservations for two. He will monitor your conversation and interject when he wants; and not in a pleasant way. With that in mind, having not been there in years, we opted for a take-out meal hoping to avoid all that. But, it was surprisingly very poorly packaged. Soup was put in a Styrofoam soda container, like a take-out Diet Coke at McDonald's, that leaked over everything. And, true to form, the owner wasn't partial to holding down the garlic on one dish and he sure let us know over the phone.
Parking is limited, food average and the prices high. In fact, I could find no on-line menu that had prices posted. He wants to get you to order blindly. When I asked a few prices, he wanted to discourage me by asking if I had the patience while he tallied the tab. Real nice.
To be honest, nothing is worth the condescending, grumpy attitude, hassle and angst of this restaurant; especially in this economy. Perhaps he gets a lunch crowd from the area but as for dinner there is nothing around there to make this a combined evening. And since it's like a luncheonette setting, you won't want to linger over coffee. Outdoor seating is on a sidewalk right on La Cienega with all it's traffic and Cedars/Sinai ambulances and sirens roaring by.
You, your money and your stomachs are worth way more than this.
You might walk out feeling full but you won't walk out feeling better.

Wow that is like a homemade cooking . What can I say from the moment you walk in the door the aroma drives you crazy and the taste is unforgettable, I cant wait to go back again.

We usually always go to the same Italian restaurant, that was until we met Larry Farber at the mall and he told us about Caffe Carrera, he was right from the pasta fagioli to the incredible Meat Loaf and oh those mussels in clam sauce. This is the best kept secret in Beverly Hills, nothing compares to it . thats Sicilian.

Caffe Carrera is always our choice for a night out! The food is excellant, the service will keep you smiling, and the ambience is enchanting. Try it for lunch or dinner, you won't be disappointed.
