It has been years since we have eaten at the Hilltop, but have been hearing some great reviews since new owners have taken the restaurant over.We decided to try it and after eating there I had to come home and write a review because the food was so good! We had the Diversion Platter with fried shrimp and crabmeat au gratin and we were blown away with the quality of the food. The best au gratin I have ever eaten and I've had plenty. Our waitress and service was awesome and we can't wait to go back! <br />

For the IDIOT that posted a bad review last week; of course your gonna have to wait if you want good food and I have never been there and had an experience as you have described. Are you talking about the right place!

Awful. Absolutely awful. Wasted $50.00. Staff non-chalant and disorganized, extremely long wait (over one hour) for food when restaurant was not even half full, then served COLD food. Overpriced -- for quantity and quality of food. Fried shrimp unseasoned - tasted like what I believe cold newspaper would taste like, and fried oysters tasted like cold corn meal, overfried and oversalted. Foolishly tipped waitress despite poor service and food, but felt sorry for her despite service. This "restaurant" has a captive audience because of its remote location. Good thing they do have this!

Food is good. Atmosphere was good. Staff was horrible! Especially the bar staff! When I complained to the "manager" it fell on deaf ears and was blown off! Also when 1/2 the restraunt is empty and we were told a 15-20 minute wait.. It was quite annoying.

We have been dining at this restaurant for years and the food is amazing. Best seafood in the area. Seafood platter will easily serve 2 adults. Great atmosphere along the river bank with the beautiful scenery. I take a senior adult down for lunches and it is well worth the drive.

We love this restaurant! The wait staff are all friendly and professional. We live about 20 miles away and have been eating at this restaurant at least once a week for the past 5-6 years. They automatically check to see if there is a fresh pot of coffee when they see us. The food is so good it's always hard to make a choice. Fried Shrimp or Catfish? Seafood gumbo and crab balls? A ribeye and baked potato on Thursday night steak night? Or maybe a juicy hamburger and fries? It's all great!! And lets now forget the deserts. There are some menu favorites and then some that are changed daily. I'd eat their Mississippi Mud every night if I could! When our family gathers at a restaurant to celebrate an event Hilltop is always our first choice. Can't say enough good things about Hilltop Inn and Restaurant.

Live in the Maurepas area and have been to this restaurant too many times to count. Have always had excellent service from the staff and extremely good food. When I happen to have a problem with food, I advise my waitress and the problem was taken care of immediately. I think a lot of the reviews are just sour grapes being aired. I have never had or witnessed any cause for such degrading review of this restaurant.

I have never never never been to a place to eat and had to wait over a hour and 45 minutes for food. Then it was cold as ice. The food didn't impress me at all. Scratch that one off the list. To many great restaurants around to waste my time there.

One of our favorite restaurants in Louisiana! We visit monthly and have always had consistently good service and food. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming. Shrimp salad is my favorite! Sunday specials are just like Grandma made!

Overheard a young waitress complaining continually about having to wait on a particular table, then watched the lady at the table give her a very good tip. Wish I could have gotten to the family before they gave the tip. Someone needs to teach these waitresses to control their mouths or better yet these are the ones they might want to consider getting rid of. I know it makes a difference to me. I will not be going to this place and allowing this young lady to wait on me. I will refuse her if I should end of with her.

The atmosphere is very casual, but family oriented. The food was "fantastic." The prices were okay, a little high. Service was okay, but one waitress in particular should be removed. I will be letting the management know what I observed.

Young, incompetent wait staff. Our waiter had dirty fingernails- YUCK!!!!!!! When we complained to manager (short brown hair, hefty) that fried food tasted "dirty, she said too bad. Other people said same thing about food. Will definitely not return!
