This is a must try restaurant. The first thing you encounter is the friendly atmosphere of a family owned business. The food is definitely worthy of the "Five Star" rating that I give it. I've been to many restaurants that sell PO-boys and the only thing that is poor is the sandwich. They cut the beef so thin it crumbles to make it look like alot. Not at Pontchartrain. They only give you a big PO-boy loaded with tender sliced beef loaded with flavor.
Let's not forget the plate dishes which are the best.
I promise you that you will love the food and leave satisfied and return again and again.

This is a classic St. Bernard po-boy restaurant, which means great mac & cheese (think Rocky & Carlos) and the best onion rings since the pre-Katrina Ye Olde College Inn. The roast beef is cooked in-house and seriously good, as are the grilled burgers, veal cutlet (ask for it "chicken fried," which is not on the menu, and you'll have another College Inn flashback). Plate lunches/dinners are "slap-your-mama" good, especially the stuffed bell pepper served on Wednesdays with, you guessed it, that great mac & cheese. When they have gumbo, order a bowl and you'll get what looks like a quart of excellent seafood gumbo. the half sandwiches are six inches, and the whole ones are a full twelve. Enjoy!

A classic neighborhood type po-boy shop serving really good plate lunches and poboys. Consistently good. I tried their surf-and-turf po boy sandwich (not on the menu) and it was deliciious.
