Just ordered from Hong Kong King at 28 Norman St Salem.
Delivery just arrived. Opened up the house rice and smelled badly of rancid fish(shrimp) opened up the pork strips they are dry and dark meat with loads of fat, low mein is barely edible and the beef chow yoke is barely even marginal at best in tenderness and taste(tough and gristly beef with undercooked mushrooms
. They did however give us a free order of chicken in some type of sauce with no label or information other than free written on the container.. My 80 yr old mother tried the "free" chicken.... it was full of hot red chili pepper sauce.... she suffered for almost 10 minutes till the heat ebbed away......
I have to say that they are terrible. The food is gross and rancid.
After reading good reviews, I thought I would give this place a try. It was fairly easy to order over the phone, sometimes there is.a bit of a language barrier. The food arrived in record time. Now for the depressing part.
The food looked really good, it almost reminded me of the red star in Chelsea. However, it.sure as hell.did not taste like it. The rice was a very dark shit-colored brown, no.flavor. the beef teriyaki was too.Salty and in my opinion undercooked. The chicken fingers looked amazing, but it did not make me jump for joy.
Maybe the red star spoiled me as a kid, and maybe I expect too much from present time chinese take out, but I have to say I wil not be calling here again. Maybe I need to learn how to cook my own chinese food and stop looking for a good Chinese restaurant.
