Best food ever. Home made and very delicious. Just like grandma used to make but the owners need to be a little more friendly towards their customers. Not just stand there and fail to acknowledge you and not even say Hi and may I help you. The rest of the staff is very nice.

I have been eating at Kalinka for about as long as it has been open (about 15 years). I am not Russian, but I love this food. it is always ultra fresh. Everything they sell of the cooked food has been cooked that day. . the food is delicious not too full of salt which tends to be so much what restaurant food is today. the service is professional in terms of food preparation and rapid service with a wide variety of foods to take home everything from Borsht to chicken liver pate, to rabbit, to stuffed pepper or stuffed cabbage they make there on premises. they usually have about 5 to 7 different fresh fish there every day fish they have made that day: Turbot , cod, salmon, tilapia, fried herring, and of course caviar. this is a place for foodies, for people who have travelled the world and are comfortable eating things that are not everyday American foods. This is not a place for people with a poor self image who need to be publicly validated by others by humiliating and demeaning others -- seemingly wanting to have the wait staff grovel at the customer's feet. (see previous person's review- ). If you want to be pampered, go to a spa. If you want good Russian and eastern European food that tastes just like my Mother and Grandma used to make but with better ingredients than you were able to get in Russia when the communists were in power, go to Kalinka. your gustatory papillae will thank you.

AWFUL, ABSOLUTELY AWFUL EXPERIENCE... I don't care where you come from, but treating others with respect is a must in business. Although that seems like a no-brainer, it apparently is not. While cultures differ, I believe it is safe to say that no one takes kindly to being laughed at, and believe it or not, that is exactly what happened to me--AS A PAYING CUSTOMER. Respect is such a very simple courtesy, but in business an absolute necessity, for which the short-haired bleech-blond with blue eyes that works there truly has some very important basics to learn. Her behavior was appalling and spread to other empoyees and customers. Unless Euro-Deli is in business only to serve the local Russian community and thereby restrict potential profits, the owners would be well-advised to provide the blond lady with stern correction. I stopped her before I left to see if she could explain herself, but again, she just did not care. That is a very contagious attitude to have in an employee and God-forbid if she is the manager or owner. Anyway, while I typically enjoy complimenting establishments on great service or products, I rarely (very rarely) waste my time in leaving a negative critique, but this certainly warrants such. I am so angry over this experience that I took the time to contact each of the nearby hotel concierges.
