Yo, take it from me, Big Tony, because you don't want to face an alternative here, capish? You keep on cracking wise and I'm gonna send the boys around to pay youse a visit.

OK, so listen, I took Ma out to this place, Petra Restaurant along HY 100 in West Allis on account of me an' the boys used to meet in the joint back in the old days -- for Bible study -- you catch my drift? It was me an' Johnny G, along with Franklin G (no relation), Jack Henning from the old neighborhood, and the others.

We used to open the pages of the Holy Scriptures and read, pray, and study together, while munching on big soft breakfast rolls with butter. I always had my oatmeal with cinnamon and brown sugar then too.

Anyway, it had been a few years and Ma was hungry; we had forgotten the lasagna.

We are cruising HY 100 and I spy Petra over there on the west side of the lane. I park, we waltz on in, we're greeted real friendly by the maitre'de, seated immediately and a beautiful, intelligent waitress served us with a smile.

All the food entreés were fantastic. Abondanza!

We gnoshed to our hearts content. Ma had a big ol' sandwich, about yay [-----] big, you know what I mean. It came with freshy, crispy lettuce, a huge tomato, slice of onion, delicious soup and more.

My baby sister had some barbequed ribs and she threw me a bone with a fair amount of meat on it. The BBQ sauce was really good -- I mean, it ain't Sweet Baby Ray's comin' outta Chicago, the BEST in the whole wide world, but it was delicioso nevertheless, mind you.

I started with some chicken dumpling soup, it was as good as at that Shorewood hole-in-the-wall speak-easy joint, Benji's Deli on N. Oakland Ave. just north of E. Capitol Drive.

Again, the waitress we had at PETRA was professional and really more like a family member. She might have been Italian; I don't know, but I give her and her family their props, they earned it.

But, I can tell you this, she was attentive and pert, provided the extra napkins that Ma always wants, and made sure our beverage containers stayed full, along with the help of the bus boy, a nice young Mexican kid with a U.S. Marine Corps style "high and tight" haircut.

With my wife trying to help me control the weight, blood pressure, chloesterol and a few other issues pertaining to the ever-lovin' wasitline, I was forced into showing her some respect and ordered a big ol' Greek salad with some gyros meat on board the whole shebang.

Like I said before, the chicken dumpling soup was really good, as good as anything on the West Allis side of a Shorewood Jewish delicatessin, and the salad was top-notch, featuring crispy greens, fresh tomatoes and so on; lots of gyro meat, cheese, onions, Greek olives, what have you.

My dear, sweet wife ordered some kind of baked chicken event with potatoes and I stole a few morsels when she was looking the other way, helping Ma with the napkins and such.

Bottom line, Petra is a GREAT restaurant, I highly recommend it.

Come on in and you will be more than satisfied my friend.
