I loved this place forever. Breakfast, lunch, hangover brunch, what-have-you, they could not be topped. Really nice staff, the whole bit. There is some stiff competition among breakfast places in this neighborhood so that is high praise. As of this afternoon though, I will never step foot in that place again.
Their breakfasts rocked. One of things I liked best was the egg sandwich. Not too big, not too small. Not too greasy, not too dry. Just right!
Well, it had been for the better part of a decade anyways. A few days ago I got one and it was a little different. Maybe it hadn't been grilled, maybe it wasn't buttered but something was missing. I ate it and made a mental note to do a better job of describing what I wanted next time.
Today I walked in with a to-go order and tried again. Apparently I said the wrong thing because what I got was the same as earlier this week, dry and missing something. This time I went back and tried to explain why this wasn't what I wanted.
To my absolute shock they argued with me. When I say argue, I mean three people behind the corner maintaining they gave me exactly what I ordered. I was blown away.
OK, sure, maybe I messed up and didn't describe it correctly but to have multiple people adamantly arguing with me over a three dollar sandwich? Seriously?! I would have paid for a second one if they had been the slightest bit open to making it how I wanted.
Totally killed my opinion of the place as a welcoming spot serving comforting food. I'm so sad about it!
