The hash browns taste like they were over cooked in old oil. The coffee had a funny smell. Biscuits and gravy were so so.
Good service.

Great place to eat! Funny thing is everyone that's giving one star can't spell!!! RATCHETS.

No matter where we go to eat we always like this place better. The salad bar is the best around, and the food is always wonderful. A big bonus is that the restaurant always looks very clean.

Best restaurant around hands down!!

review_stars 03/22/2014 - Best place around? HA!
Looks clean? You should see the back and the basement. Waitresses swearing at people and talking about sexual subject matter. This place is a greasy little hell were the managers strong arm employees into writing good comments on this site and they find ways to screw the emploees out of overtime and breaks. I have turned them in to the EEOC and the health department.
This is a little hole in the wall in a tiny little town of under employeed and under educated slacked jawed morons.

Bathrooms are awful. Salad bar gross and food never fresh. Wait staff handles food with now gloves. It is just awful.

Is it as gross to make as it is to eat? Don't eat anything there that has any ground beef of pork or sausage. My wait person told me she has personally served food she knew was past it's expectation date.

I also found hair in my food the last time I was there.

If I could give less than one star I would. Saw servers touch food. Things were cold that should have been hot and warm that should have been cold. It was dirty and heard a very mouthy waitress swearing and complaining about getting pregnant. Awful place.

Don't go to this little hell hole. Keep driving. Ivanhoe's in Upland is cleaner and better food. Salad bar never fresh. Chicken like rubber. Just nasty.

My relative introduced us to this place when we were visiting from Mississippi. Needless to say, it's become one of our "must-stops" when in Indiana. Upon arriving, the ambiance was comfortable and inviting. We were greeted with a smile from the hostess and immediately seated.

The friendly atmosphere was matched by the excellent food. The waitress recommended the fresh broasted chicken and I wasn't disappointed. The food is cooked well and portioned nicely, and filled with flavor. If you can manage to find room for desert, the apple dumplings are always a delicious treat. And even if you can't, it's always a good idea to request one to go.

Another positive is the manager, an older man at the front, who is a genuinely a honorable human being who cares about his customers and business. I witnessed the man opening a door for an elderly customer and he mindfully sat him in a location with easy access to the front door. He brightens up the place and sets a good examples for his employees. It's no surprise that I will be returning to Richards Restaurant.

My family and I recently ate at this restaurant, and we were very pleased. The food was excellent, and the service was too. I'm very picky when it comes to cleanliness in restaurants, and I didn't find anything wrong with this one. I would definitely recommend eating at this particular Richard's restaurant.

I have been going to Richards to eat all my life and I am always pleased with my service and my food. The food is always really great, the menu is inexpensive, and I always have good service too. It's a win-win. I rarely go out of town to eat because the food at Richards is as good as the nice restaurants in muncie for a much cheaper price. I spend just as much money taking my family to mcdonalds, but I get wonderful food at Richards instead of nasty fast food...I've always thought the staff is friendly, fast, and helpful too. I always recommend Richards when people visit from out of town. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

My family and I a total of 10 people with 6 out of the 10 people were children under the age of 10 visited Richards Restaurant tonight in Hartford City. I would like to say they are very accommodating for large groups. I was welcomed with a Hello and seated very quickly. My order was taken by the waitress whom was very polite and accommodating. Our order was served in a timely manner and was correct and made per our order. My kids are very picky and had quite a few changes to the order. Our beverages were never empty and the manager even came out to the dinning room to make sure our visit was a pleasant one. He again at check out made sure we had a pleasant experience and our waitress even came up to tell us to have a good night and thanked us for the tip we left. The restaurant was very clean, the bathrooms were very clean and I enjoyed the family like atmosphere. Thank you Richards Restaurant and staff for the great meal and experience.

We decided to treat our family to Easter dinner at Richards. They live in Hartford City and we are from here. The food was bad! We used to enjoy eating here.I don't know what has happened. When you can get seated and waited on quickly on Easter Sunday, you know business has declined.I sent food back to be recooked and it just was not good.I ate it and decided this was as good as it apparently gets.No one enjoyed their meals at all. They have the monopoly on restaurants in H.C. or I am sure no one would eat there.Big thumbs down!!!!!!!!!
