Fingerhut Bakery their donuts are delicious! I have never been disappointed in the donuts. BUT I ordered a full size sheet cake. Chocolate with whipping cream frosting. The cake was decorated beautifully. Decorating icing colors was maroon and green. The maroon icing tasted like IODINE. We tried scraping the maroon icing off the cake but you could still taste the iodine. So my husband hurried and ran to five star and bought two birthday cakes for party. Still wasn't the same as a special ordered birthday cake. Had only happy birthday wrote on it and not the birthday boy name. But at least it didn't taste like iodine. I was very embarrassed that the cake did not taste good from Fingerhut Bakery. I had a whole house full of people. And they kept saying that they could still taste the iodine. You know the cake from Fingerhut Bakery was bad when the kids didn't even finish their cake. But at least they tied right into the other two cakes that we bought from Five Star. We threw away the full size sheet cake that I bought from Fingerhut Bakery in Knox Indiana. I was so disappointed that a full size sheet cake was wasted. So I called the bakery the next day and talk to the owner. Just to let him know there was a problem with the cake. He gave me the excuse over and over. The darker you go with the decorating icing it will change the taste. I told him I have never heard of that. Or have I ever had a problem with darker decorating icing on a cake from other bakeries. I told him I have ordered cakes with red and black decorated icing and had a cake air sprayed with black color. And the cake was delicious from other bakery. He goes I am not giving you any money back but I will give you a $5 credit. I told him that is not why I called. I told him the reason I called was to let him know there was an issue with the cake. I did mention to him that the donuts they make are delicious. I mentioned to him he did not need to be rude with me. After the owner being so rude to me. I told him from now on. I will order my cakes from Martin's in Plymouth. Which the cakes from Martin in Plymouth are delicious and decorated beautifully. The only reason I ordered the birthday cake from Fingerhut bakery at that time was I lived in Knox. Fingerhut Bakery lost my business. I know mistakes happen but being rude to me there was no reason for it plus hanging up on me like he did. I will say I do miss their donuts. I would have still went in and bought donuts. But after he was so rude and hung up on me. I refuse to give them my business.
