2nd time I've been here & mostly like last...... food is excellent. . No problem with that..... I do feel like my husband and I were overlooked because we're African American. ..... waitress acted like it strained her to serve on us ( didn't get a tip )....... & I'm assuming the man in red shirt was either manager or owner..... I watched him go to several tables around us and ask customers if everything is okay. .. removing plates ... pouring coffee. .....but never ONCE came near our table...... 2015 & we still have to feel like 2nd class ??? .....SUGGESTION.... put a Whites Only sign or move your business where there are no non-whites....

My family and I have been stopping by the Broussard location for 7 years now. I have always enjoyed the atmosphere, people and the food. It saddens me to write this review. The last three times we have gone the service has been especially poor. This last visit Saturday 2-19 was the straw that broke the camels back so to speak. My wife, son and I stopped by the restaurant at around 5:30 AM to have breakfast. We were the only ones there. I ordered a “22” I think, 2 eggs, 2 sausages, 2 bacon, and your choice of breads. I chose the biscuits with "creamy Gravy" as written on the menu. My wife and son ordered their meals as well. I believe the waitresses name was Jose. As we waited for our meals we sipped our coffee and Juices. Our meals arrived and we all got everything we ordered except for the gravy for my biscuits. I politely asked where the gravy was and the waitress immediately and very smartly commented to me that “You need to specify you want gravy” I was dumbfounded at this attitude. She asked if I would like to order some gravy. I said yes. I assumed it was already made and would only take a moment to get. I watched her go the cook and order the gravy and then stand back and make comments to her co- workers as the gravy was being made. They all stared and whispered very unprofessional which made me upset. I sat quietly while my wife and son finished their meals all before the gravy arrived to our table. I didn’t touch my meal during this time. When she handed me the gravy I placed it next to my now very cold plate and asked for my ticket. She looked at me and asked if I wanted her to box up my meal to go. I told her no. She told me the total of my ticket and I paid her for our meals and left without tipping. Like I said it truly saddens me that a fine restraint like Mel’s has lost sight of customer service.
