My husband and I had just the opposite experience. On our first visit, the staff couldn't have been more attentive and friendly. We had an entree, which we recall as being excellent, but we can't remember what it was, so overshadowed was it by the butternut squash soup. Had we known the soup was going to be THAT sensational, we would have skipped dinner and had a half-dozen more bowls of soup. It was the end of a sad day for my husband and me (funeral). I tried to hide tears that wouldn't be hidden. Suddenly, 2 glasses of wine appeared at our places. I managed to croak, "But we didn't order these." The waitress said, "I know, honey, they are from me; I just wanted you to know that everything will be all right."
We have quite a long drive to get to Inn at Millrace Pond, but we took some house-guests there just for the squash soup! Our female guest was on some kind of a fat-free, gluten-free, sugar-free, dairy-free, taste-free diet. Job has nothing on that waitress. Our dieting guest asked the waitress no less than 11 questions about the food that necessitated the waitress walking all the way to the kitchen 11 times to talk to the cook. No, apparently our guests couldn't ask all the questions at once. The rest of us couldn't believe that this patient waitress didn't give our guest her dinner to wear at the last question. Our waitress remained gracious throughout; and we made certain she received a hefty tip!
In summary, I've never had a bad experience at this establishment. Go.

I have to say that I write a lot of online reviews, and I rarely give only one star, but the Inn at Millrace Pond was simply terrible. The building was beautiful, the décor quite nice and clean … the food was terrible and the service was worse. The wait staff ignored us for the first 15 minutes we were there, and then never returned with drinks for another 20 minutes. After our dinner hadn’t arrived 40 minutes after ordering it, we begged for some bread to hold us over. Once dinner did arrive, the sirloin steak was overcooked and tasteless. I’m pretty sure the side vegetables were from a can. We were so disappointed with the experience we didn’t bother trying for a dessert. To the owners: nice building, but you should seriously reconsider your entire staff.
