I didn’t expect the quality of food to be what it was from first appearances. Boy I was totally wrong. Outstanding food, Buffalo burger, yum. Elk burger, off the charts. I had the best grilled grouper I have ever had, right here in Bryson City. Don’t forget to order their homemade fries, outstanding. Locally owned and delightful service. Make your taste buds happy!

Excellent food!! Steak dinner, sides, drinks and appetizers for less than $50. Service was great. I highly recommend!

Not good service, the prices are a great bit higher than the on line menu. Food was good but waited 20 min. only 4 other people in restaurant. 1 less side and large increase in price!!!!!!!!1 we will not return after many years as a local customer!!!!!!!!!

is that real buffalo meat you use for your buffalo burgers

Food is always very good, whether dine-in or take-out. Order early for take-out, as there is frequently a wait. And note the small plate specials; they are available all day. Burgers are legendary, and fresh seafood is a real treat to find in the mountains!

We've been to jimmie Mac's every time we visit Bryson City. Food is the best we've ever tasted. Trout and bison burgers are out of this world. Highly recommended

Went after a hike. We were told 15 minutes for a table. After 25, we tried to ask again and were ignored. At 35 minutes, we finally got someone's attention and were told they couldn't pull two tables together to seat 5 of us, but could put us at 2 separate tables. We said not to bother, we would find somewhere else to eat. Miraculously, they were able to pull the two tables together suddenly. We should have taken the hint that we were neither wanted nor welcome here at this point, but we ventured on.

The waitress slapped the menus on the table, brought a second set of silverware (there were already wrapped silverware on the table) and asked what we wanted to drink. We didn't get a greeting, we didn't get her name, and she mumbled the entire time. Basically, it felt like we were inconveniencing her.

We ordered our drinks, which came out fairly quickly and went ahead with our food orders. She took four of the orders then asked if that would be it. We reminded her there was a fifth person right there that she basically ignored. Our food took another 30 minutes to come out. Mine was correct, but one of my friends ordered the chicken sandwich which she said tasted like fish and my other friend never got her side order of applesauce. On top of that, our drinks were never refilled the entire time we were there. In fact, we weren't even checked on after the food arrived.

When she came to clear the plates (at this point we'd been here around an hour 45 minutes including the wait time), She asked how it was. I mentioned my friend didn't like her chicken sandwich (it had one bite out of it). She shrugged. Didn't offer to get the manager, didn't apologize, just stared blankly and shrugged. Thanks. Your shrug really helped this situation.

I honestly don't know why this place has so many great reviews. The lackluster food and laissez faire attitude aren't winning them any points. My advice, find somewhere else to eat. There are other places that offer a variety of food choices in Bryson City (Anthony's, Nate and Nicks, and Pasqualino's to name a few) that actually care about their guests and their food experience.

gone here for several years now - never had bad meal but front of house needs a good manager. we try to get the same (older) waitress as we know she does a good job. Only complaint we have ever had was waiting to be given a table - even when not busy and slow times sometimes even getting our drink order or checking on us to see if we need anything else . Do not plan on being in a hurry.

First let me say the food is Amazing we have been going here for years and love everything they have to offer. Sometimes the wait is long but it is well worth it. I only have one slight issue. We had some wait on my husband and i a few weeks ago, she seemed really rude and in a bad mood. I don't normally get upset or write bad reviews unless it happens more then a few times. I know everyone has bad days. Well we went back this past weekend and had the same server. She was once again extremely rude. My daughter had the soup and it was the very last thing to come out, it was cold and didn't takes good at all. Amber never came back to the table, when she did we were all finished except my daughter who didn't eat. I told her the soup wasn't to please take it off the check. The owner walked by and I told him the same thing, he went to see what the issue was and came back to me and apologized and told me that the burner wasn't on the correct setting. this is one of the only times I didn't leave a good tip, she only came to the table to drop off our drinks, food, and check. never came for refills and was rude for the second time. I know we all have bad days, when you love to eat at a place and travel 200 miles a few times a year to go it sucks when the waitress is rude. Had she only been rude one time this wouldn't be an issue but she has been rude several time.

Food was awful. Grilled trout and fried catfish. No flavor. Catfish was mushy and muddy tasting. Husband had fried grouper and shrimp. No flavor. Service was not great. Server was friendly but reaked of sweat. Not what I want to smell while trying to eat a meal. Salad had one grape tomato cut in half and the rest was lettuce and croutons. Total disappointment! Will never go back.

Terrible!!! Catfish was raw in the middle. The green beans had been around for a few days too many. When we asked for bread, the server looked at us like we had two heads. Would never go back there again. Don't waste your money.

Waited forever for our food. Server was not attentive. Asked several times for a refill that never came as well as an additional butter for baked potato. Steak was tender but had no seasoning. Sides were from a can and very bland. This was at 7ish on a week night. Also there were 5 toddlers in the dining room crying. Wished servers had brought them something to nibble on while waiting, like applesauce or crackers, which were offered on the menu.

Husband and I went here on July 5th (Saturday night) around 6 pm. It wasn't busy at all. We were seated and asked right away what we wanted. Said we need time to look at the menu so she walked away. Took forever for her to come back. The waitresses all dressed like hookers. Hubby got a steak which he said was bland tasting. I got the Grilled Grouper and it was rubbery tasting. The service was horrible the food was bad and the best part of all is WHEN WE WERE WAITING FOR OUR CHANGE (bill was $47 we gave her $100) THE HOSTESS CAME OVER AND SAID YOU GUYS ARE LEAVING RIGHT? I was pi@#*d so I said yes we are leaving just as soon as we get our change. This place is not worth the time or money. Do go around the corner to the Everett Diner it is the bomb but they are only open for breakfast and lunch.

My mom , who lives in Bryson City, took me to jimmy Macs for lunch today, i ordered the Minnesota fats burger, and added swiss cheese and bacon, and this was one of the best burgers i have ever had, cooked perfectly, seasoned perfectly, even the steak fries were cooked perfectly. staff was excellent, very reasonably priced. going back this weekend for sure.

Came all the way from Maryland to visit family, called before we came and asked them if they would be opened on Xmas Eve told me yes, so I made my reservations. Night before was walking downtown told Jimmy himself we would see him the next evening still said nothing about being closed. Got there at 7:15 time of our reservation and guess what they were closed. No Note, No Nothing had to find somewhere else to go. We were very disappointed.

Although I've only been to this restaurant in Bryson City once, I'm sort of biased in favor of it. Jimmy Mac originally owned a bar/restaurant in Tampa, FL where I grew up. My wife and I used to love going there as high school kids, so we were delighted when we discovered that Jimmy Mac had opened up a new restaurant in Bryson City (my parents have a house nearby).

Every time I go, I always get a cheeseburger and it is always great! I've been to Ray's Hellburger in Arglinton, Old Ebbitt in DC, had the Kobe beef sliders at Barclay Prime in Philly, and had a burger at Bar Rouge (also in Philly). Jimmy Mac's burgers stand up there with the best of them.

Food not very good and can never find anything worth eating on the menu. Service is okay sometimes when it 's slow but is terrible when it's busy. The problem is that there are not very many places to eat in Bryson City so we end up here when we really would rather go somewhere else. I believe if this restaurant were in a large city, it would have FAILED a long time ago. I feel the owners could care less about it's customers and whether they do a good job or not.

YOu will love it. Everything we have eaten there was great!!! Cheese sticks are homemade, steaks should be ordered blackened. Best quality of beef I have had in a long time and I love steaks. Fried Shrimp were out of this world. Best Ones other than my mother in laws which are my favorite. I would highly reccoment this to anyone. Me and my husband visit this area at least once amonth during rafting season. We would come more but we live 8 hours away and have to work. We always eat here at leat two or three times while we are in town. Service was great too. IF you go early you can get lunch portions before 5:30 which are plenty filling and even better price than you would get for dinner. Prices are great especially with the quality of food you get. I am a very picky eater and I promise you will not be disappointed.
