Well where does one begin? I use to work at Tom's in the early 80's and the food was excellent and on Friday-Saturday-Sunday the waits out the door to get in. Something has happened to the quality of food and proportions for sure. Call it the economy or just trying to pad their bottom line I don't know. Some items are still decent in taste but the portion greatly diminished. I recall the broiled whole flounder as extending over the plate and incredible. Now it is 3/4 of the plate at best and they must be sourcing the food from somewhere else now days. I know things change but there is a reason there are no longer long waits and the crowds like 30 years ago. When you sacrifice quality over making a dollar it will eventually catch you and put you under. I use to love the oysters for they were lightly cooked and still very wet and tasty. Now days they are overcooked and are like rubber and not to mention they are the smallest things I have ever seen! I really think this comes down to cutting corners and refusing to give quality over a savings. I had rather pay a few dollars more per plate and have the quality. Maybe they will read these reviews and make good on the dissatisfactions of longtime customers. I really don't see them staying in business another 5 years unless they change their business for sure. It is a shame too, because they are somewhat of a legend in this area. I rather drive to Lexington to Skipper's and get a better class of food.
