review_stars 09/09/2023 - Not the old Tony’s
We’ve been going to Tony’s for 40 years. It was our favorite spot for pizza and we love the sandwiches. It’s been a while since we’ve been back so we decided to stop in for dinner. We were so looking forward to our favorites but what a complete disappointment. Everything had changed. Whomever was working the register was shockingly rude, which was our first clue that things weren’t the same. The pizza and sandwiches were nothing compared to the old Tony’s - the cheese and ordered toppings were skimpy, the sauce was light and the crust was thicker and softer. Don’t know who’s running the place now but it’s apparent they don’t care about their product or customers. It’s too bad, we’ll miss their unique taste.

I've been eating there for nearly 40 years, it's gone down hill in quality and quantity since the passing of Tony. I just got the worst meatball sandwich I ever had, there was maybe 3 meatballs in the sandwich and the bun was dryer than shoe leather it was mostly mustard ketchup and very little Marinara. It didn't even deserve a single star rating.

It's still great pizza but they used to have the best meatball sandwich also. No meatballs found ony sandwich. Just meat sauce. The pizza toppings looked like they were thrown on the center. That's ok. It still tasted great but it's just not what it used to be.

Tonys used to be the best pizza place around. The food is still good, but the service is terrible. A bunch of kids with no supervision and they seem to hate being at work. The attitude seems to be they are doing you a favor. Hair nets do not seem to be a requirement. I hope someone turns this place around. It should still be one of the best.

CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THE WORST!!! Called in and NEVER even got past that point. Asked 3 questions: Asked any specials? Asked what they recommend? Asked if I could view menu online? All this idiot could answer was "uhhh I dont know" Frustrated I asked if there was someone else I could talk to that could actually help me. Then he hung up the phone. Very Unprofessional...Poor Service. I'd rather go somewhere else to spend My Hard earned Money. Food and Service was better back 10 years ago, but now nothing but KIDS working there. Doubt Ill go there again.

I have been coming to Tony's for years and I have always loved the food, BUT the customer service has been spiraling down for a while. I am actually writing this review as I'm sitting here, mainly because I will NOT be coming back. The service is HORRIBLE!! It's pretty sad such a great family restaurant has turned out this way.

To be honest, I was formerly employed as a cook at Tony's back when I was in high school, but I love the food and atmosphere enough to write a favorable review. If you're ever in the neighborhood, Tony's is certainly something you should experience.

Food:

I've tried everything on the menu and while, of course, some foods are better than others, I've never been disappointed or let down. The menu isn't super huge, but here's a quick run through of it. Pizzas have a homemade, secret-recipe type sauce and thin crust and are delicious. Pizzas come in a small [12inch] or large [15inch] only. Four sub sandwich options: meatball, pastrami, hamburger, or sausage burger. I'd recommend having them add pickles and jalapenos. Four different types of pastas: tortellini, spaghetti, ravioli, or rigatoni. Be sure to get a salad [only one house dressing: a great vinagrette type] and garlic bread with you're meal too. Those are both delicious.

Service:

Eh. A lot of high school kids are employed there so they get distracted easily. You'll need to be patient with them. It's also got a smaller dining area and it's pretty popular, so there can sometimes be long waits for open tables. Just remember patience.

Value:

Prices are good. Pastas and sandwiches are between five and ten dollars, which is only a few bucks more than what you'd pay for a fast food meal. No room for complaints at all. If I remember correctly, pizzas are between ten [around this for a small] and seventeen [less than this for a large] dollars. You've got to remember that a small pizza can feed at least two people, a large at least three or four. Garlic breads and salads are around two bucks.

Atmosphere:

It's good. Kind of a hole in the wall [and I don't mean this in a dirty or pejorative way; it's just a small place in a brick building that's easy to miss]. Lighting is on the darker side. Smaller dining room means tables are somewhat close together on busy nights like Fridays and Saturdays. It's easy to hang out and have fun and talk like you should in a pizza joint though.

Overall, you really ought to check it out the next chance you get. Good food, good prices, fun times.
