1st Time at this Establishment & it was My last. We were seated after waiting almost 10 mins, No, It wasn't terribly Busy. I found there wasn't very much to choose from on the menu. I ordered The "Chow Mein" Casserole. Which consisted of a small oblong "Casserole" dish, Filled with Stale Noodles and a Flavorless gravy, It came with a Pound of Fries and mediocre Cole Slaw, as the food was placed before us, We Noticed There were NO utensils on the table. People who arrived after we were seated were served considerably Faster Than My Party was & They were on their dessert before we got our Entree'!!! Very disappointed wasn't worth the time or $$$$

We are left, with our months open. The food was cold, we didn't get our food all together we had to wait for everyrhing we had to send the main meal back. Will never go back

This place should be shut down by the board of health. I have seen wait staff eating off plates before they reach the customer! The kitchen staff were outside and as we walked to our vehicle all we could smell was marijuana! Shut this Place down.

I love the food at family ties. Granted the service may not be so great some times but I always find that my servers are great and usually friendly.

My husband and I have encountered an issue twice when we went there....we found a hair in our dish twice but they took care of it right away.

I still go back because I know mistakes happen but I like the food :)

I have been a long time customer but have to say how disappointed I have been lately. Portions are small, waitstaff are extremely rude and their attire is not very pleasing. I was there the other night and one of the waitresses was wearing a halter top with cut off jean shorts and boots. Her hair was disheveled and she looked like she hadn't bathed in quite a while. I was turned off by her appearance and the fact that she was touching people's food. I opted out of eating and went into the bar to have a drink instead. The bartender was a refreshing change, bright personality and pleasant and her hygiene was clean. Time to clean house "literally" of the grubby, sloppy waitstaff.

I am writing to air my complaints about the very poor and rude service that my family received at Family Ties in Tiverton, RI on January 7th. Having waitressed all my life, I know very well the dos and don’ts of the restaurant business. I do my best to care of our guests, and ensure that they have a pleasurable dining experience.

To begin, the 4 of us sat for dinner. Shortly after ordering, my parents called to see what we were doing and we told them we were checking out Family Ties for the first time and asked them if they would like to meet us there. They agreed. We let the waitress know that we were expecting 2 more guests, and would appreciate it if there was any way they could sit with us or near us. The waitress suggested that we drag over a chair. At the time, a small table directly next to our table was available.

When the 2 other guests arrived, they came over to say “hi” and we said we would drag a chair over so that we could eat together, per the recommendation of our waitress. They said that they didn’t mind sitting at their own table because it would be uncomfortable to squeeze into the booth with us. Meanwhile, the guests who had JUST been seated at the small table next to us overheard our conversation and INSISTED that they move to another table so that we could all sit together comfortably. We thanked them and they moved to another table. We moved the table about 2 feet over to the left so it would be right next to our booth. Let me add that we were in the back corner of the restaurant. We were not blocking any walkways, any other tables, or even a fire exit.

Once our 2 guest were seated, comfortable, and ready to order the owner came over and rudely asked that we squeeze into the “6 person booth” so he could seat a party of 4 that was waiting for that table. For those of you who have never been, or have been to Family Ties, these “6 person booths” can really only fit 4 adults comfortably. The owner basically ripped the table out from under his guests. The owner managed to disrupt a nice Friday night out for my friends and family (how ironic that he names his business “Family” Ties). He drove away 2 customers who were already seated and ready to order, only to move the table back over the 2 feet and seat TWO people there before my 2 guests could even grab their personal belongings from the table. The restaurant was steadily busy, but there were plenty of open tables, including a “6 person booth” behind us in which they sat ONE person.

In my experience, the owner of a restaurant comes to your table to ask how everything is and to see if there is anything that they can do to make your experience at their restaurant a more positive one. This was by far the most horrible customer service experience I have ever witnessed. The ordeal was embarrassing for all involved. If you want a nice family dinner experience in town where you will be treated as a guest and not a number, I suggest Stone Bridge Restaurant or Nonni’s. I get the feeling that all Family Ties is concerned with is cramming people in and making as much money as possible. It’s not about the happiness of their guests and being sure to provide a nice family dining experience as they so claim to do. We will be sure to never recommend Family Ties as a good local place to eat and we will never go back there again.

Sincerely,

6 Very Dissatisfied Customers

Family Ties is great! They are now located just a minute up the road at 221 Main st. It is still owned and operated by Dave Ferreira.
The new restaurant is much bigger so the wait isn't as long on the weekends. They also serve dinner most nights.
All of the food is made to order, fresh and HOMEMADE! The service is wonderful and has a real cozy, family oriented atmosphere. Another bonus is that the prices are well within anyone's budget!
ENJOY!!!
