My wife and I drive by Marilynn's Place (an old gas station) ever Sunday and it is usually crowded. Our son came to town to celebrate my 80th birthday and we decided to go to Marilynn's Place.
We are originally from Lake Charles, La and like good seafood. We each had different menu items and none of us thought any of the items were worth the money. We will not be going back.

My husband brought the shrimp Creole home for me to try.I was really hoping it would be like my homemade creole. I was very disappointed in the dish, the food was very bland. I use celery, green bell pepper and finely chopped onion to season and a rich tomato sauce and tomato paste.
I will not ever try the creole dishes at Marilyn’s again.
The cook should read a recipe in a traditional South Louisiana cookbook. The shrimp was very small and a bit overcooked.

I have only eaten there twice but everything was so delicious. I plan on going back more often. I want to try everything on the menu.

My family was traveling through, from Albuquerque, NM, to get back home to FL...and this was the only place we could find biegnets, which my 11 yr old son wanted to try (never had before). So they didn't open till 10, and we were there about 945 to wait, I called to make sure they would be ready at 10 so we could quickly get back on the road...the server was nice enough to bring an order out for us, before they actually opened, at no charge, and sent us on our way! The kids loved them...but what a mess in our car!!!! Great customer service and well worth it!! Thank you!!!

My daughters took me to MP Monday after a movie. The seafood gumbo was the best I have ever had. Even though you should be able to get even decent gumbo in Shreveport, it is really hard to find. Marilyn's is superb. Can't wait to go back. Very friendly service. Relaxed atmosphere. Love it!!!
