Girls home of the tax evaders. Gils famous for cash only. Why?do you cook your books? Amazing that you don't take debit cards why? Cause it's harder to cook the books. Quality has gone downhill last couple years. So people if your in Rutland and go to Gils bring cash.absolutely disgusting.

If you're looking for the freshest Grinder/Hoagie/Sub rolls, STUFFED with meats & cheeses, this is one of the best places to go. It's been in the same location for decades; I've been going there since the early 60's, and I don't really know when it was established. AWESOME sandwiches.
Grew up in Rutland; living in the Dallas, TX area a long time, and still go there when I'm in town.
They are the BEST.

The meat on their subs get less & less ,& too much cabbage or lettuce!!! Not no. 1 now in my option !!

Unfortunately they take forever to make your sub.nobody seems to care. Last time I was there I waited twenty mins for the four people ahead of me to be served. Mind you these are subs.the one worker spent more time talking about her personal life than making the sub. Really!! You can't talk and make a sub at the same time. If this was a one time thing then ok. But it isn't.sad. Even sadder is gold is considered Rutlands better sub shops.must be because your so hungry after waiting so long
