Tried again tonight for takeout this time. 2 customers eating in; 3 tables not cleared; 1 staff member outside smoking right by the doors (thought that was forbidden?); no one answered the bell at the counter; had to wait for the waitress to finish her cigarette. Customer service was better this time, however, but my burger and fries were cold (I live only 2 min. away); husband's chicken wrap was not good. Noticed in time before debit card transaction that I was accidentally charged $112.22; waitress fixed it after calling her boss to walk her through it. Ok, great. May try one more time for breakfast or to have only a burger inside. Hoping things are gradually going to improve.

Not recommended at all. Went in for dinner, despite not having a good experience a long time ago. Everybody deserves a 2nd or 3rd chance. 2 employees working total at dinnertime (yes, as a recently former business owner, I am well aware of the current staffing shortages, so this part is not a complaint). 1 other customer when we came in, despite that there were surprisingly alot of folks in town tonight for a Christmas event and the Custard Stand and a food truck were both hopping busy--what does that tell you? Trash on the floor. We swiped crumbs off our table and chairs ourselves. Waitress was not very welcoming, barely spoke to us. Honestly, the only thing good was the temp of the canned coke. It took a good 25-30 min. to get our food. Could tell the other customer was irritated at his long wait also. Both plates and silverware were handed straight to us, no gloves or tray on the part of the waitress (I'm sorry, but how do I know you washed your hands in between doing whatever you just disappeared in the back to do?). I ordered the country fried steak, mashed potatoes, and corn. While a gentleman came in for a takeout order, I observed him standing at the window for a very long time before he was eventually acknowledged, thinking that when she was done taking care of him that the waitress would come back out to us to see how everything was/if we needed anything, etc. Nope. Had to stand at the window for a long time while the waitress literally was on the opposite side of the closed window 4" from me while she was busy writing something. When she finally looked up at me, I politely asked if she could heat up my ice cold mashed potatoes and corn, which had obviously been sitting while the meat had been cooked. No attemot of an apology, just "Okay" and turned away. When she handed it again barehanded to me, this time everything was so super-microwaved that it took a good 10 min. to cool down enough to try it. The corn was definitely straight out of a can and definitely of the super cheap brand; the potatoes were no doubt instant from a box; and the meat had a really "off" taste. But, hey--the pepper was good!! My husband's patty melt was barely warm and served on store-bought, cheap white bread with Velveeta cheese (I know we're in WV, but c'mon? Seriously?). His onion rings were definitely straight out of a frozen box variety. "Homecooked?" Uhh, nope...., no way was that "home" cooked. Had to stand again at the window a long time to pay. Hopefully they took note of all the wasted food left on the table. Had to take stomach meds after getting home because something was definitely wrong with the country fried steak. My husband brought the meat from his sandwich home for the dog, but even she wouldn't touch it. The husband (who used to manage a chain if restaurants) wants to give it one more try for breakfast, but I'm not convinced. Thumbs down, despite this being hard times for all businesses.
