To say I am disappointed with the Elmton is an understatement. My family and I have been patrons of the Elmton for over 40 years. Today was the last time I will ever be a patron after incredibly poor service and treatment. I found a gift card for the Elmton that I purchased several years ago. I was super excited to find a twenty-five dollar card, as I had previously thought it was lost. As I entered the shop, a patron in front of me attempted to use his gift card, and it was not registering on the machine. He was then comped the ten dollars he SAID was on the card. When I handed them my own card, it would not register either. I had the receipt attached so as to show that the card was, in fact, a valid purchase. I was then informed that because the card was over 5 years old, the card was no longer valid. I was "given" eight dollars off my bill as a courtesy. It was apparently their courtesy to keep the other seventeen dollars. I asked where the policy was posted and was told it is an Ohio policy and I can just look it up. I attempted to call the Emton and explain the situation and the manager hung up on me. I then double checked the policy to make sure I was correct in my knowledge that the Emton is lacking. Please keep in mind that their policy is NOT POSTED ANYWHERE.

The following is a direct quote from the Ohio Attorney General’s website. I would like to point out that the wording states that a gift card cannot expire within five years, but it can still work beyond five years.

“A general-use prepaid card, gift certificate, or store gift card cannot have an expiration date within five years of the date the card was issued or within five years of the date funds were last loaded on the card, unless the end use is for business purposes. The expiration terms also must be clearly and conspicuously stated.”

I can assure you that I will be following up on this issue with the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General's office on Monday. The right thing to do so would have been to honor the gift card. But apparently my money is better in their pocket, and they no longer care about making their customers happy.

Really sad!! Have been eating Elmton pizza my whole life! Nothing compares to it! Tonight we were really disappointed. Not sure what happened. Very little toppings and way over cooked. We wondered if it was reheated!! Please tell me this isn't going to be the normal!!😥

The quality has diminished. The toppings are sparse and taste has changed. I have been going here for over 50 years. Extremely disappointed!

My family and I have been dining at Elmton for more than 35 years and have been loving every minute of it. Love the hometown atmosphere; love the chicken and pizza and broaster potatoes and the fish dinners; and it's a family owned business and theybeen the same since I first started remember dining there. And they're always "in the house" making sure that you are satisfied with the service and the food! 🤗🤩

Elmton is a decent local pizza place. Everything is consistently good. We usually order pizza and wings and we've never been disappointed.

I grew up on this pizza. Never had a bad one. The broasted chicken is juicy and crispy. I've eaten in restaurants all over this country and I always visit the Elmton even with so many other restaurants in this area. My suggestion for Paige is close your eyes and try to enjoy the food. But if you can't do that then maybe you should not come back. Those of us who do go there love it.

The cheese on the pizza is Swiss and provolone yuck! No mozzarella on it always burnt. Cavatelli is always over cooked bread comes from the freezer. Not the cleanest what do you expect in struthers.

Wish you had desserts. Other than that, I wouldn't change a thing.

I have eaten Elmton pizza for over 50 years and enjoyed it. Ordered a 16 inch cheese pizza last Tuesday and was very disappointed in the taste. Something was wrong. It did not taste like the old familiar Elmton pizza. The crust was thinner, darker and it had less sauce and cheese. Not sure if this was because of the Tuesday special but not sure if we will ever order the pizza again. Have heard from several others who also thought something has changed in the taste and texture. Why would you change a tradition?

I'm 53. My parents have been going to the Elmton since I was about 8 years old. The best pizza & broasted chicken dinners around. I've continued the tradition with my own family. Yes, they do get very busy at times, that's the result of serving great food. Their Italian dishes are also excellent. Very pleased. Another satisfied customer. Just goes to show you that you don't need all the "fluff" just great food & good service.

I've eaten pizza all over the US and without a doubt, the Elmton serves the best there is. The green peppers and provolone/swiss cheese topping make it a unique find in the boring world of mozzarella topped pies. The Youngstown area boasts an amazing number of great pizza parlors but the Elmton is number one. Don't forget to grab and order of broasted chicken for lunch the next day. It's so tasty, it may not last until later the same day, let alone tomorrow. A1 food and service!

Those of us from Struthers know that at times you need to wait for the food here, but, the wait is always worth it. It's a bar/restaurant and it's fabulous. They haven't stayed in business all these years because one family of 5 couldn't wait. Additionally you can get carry out, which at times takes an hour to get, they are that busy. Struthers people upon returning to the city first want Elmton pizza, then they go see their family and friends or better yet, they meet them at the Elmton. I've had to next day air their pizza to Texas because relatives there couldn't get good pizza and longed for the Elmton.

review_stars 09/10/2010 - Unsatisfied
Unable to review the food due to my family of 5 had to wait over 55 minutes to be seated. Kids became tired and restless. Had to leave on an empty stomache. Needless to say, we won't be going back. Hostess never even offered any compensation for our wait. They had unorganized seating arrangements. There was no room for my family as we waited. At one point I informed the hostess that we would be willing to separate our group. She continued to seat smaller parties and continued to make our party wait. Families of 5 or more had better go elsewhere unless they have an enormous amount of patience.
