Al's catered for a family function a few months ago - the food was awesome and all my guests raved about it! I had always gone there for sandwiches and pizza and decided to give the catering a try. Would recommend it highly. The staff have been nothing but nice and courteous whenever I have gone in.

have been taking the bus right by the corner of Al's for over a year, never had a chance to try there food because they are closed when i leave at 7 and i get home late. recently i noticed that the lights are on early i was always smell garlic roasting when i walk by the side door. finally walked in one morning even though they open at 8, and was treated like family by who i believe is the owners son. now i get coffee there every morning and the cook is more than happy to stop what hes doing to make me coffee and ask me whats new. great breakfast and very nice young cook.

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!!! REAL HOMEMADE FOOD THAT HITS THE STOMACH AND THE SOUL EVERYTIME I GO AND NO MATTER WHAT I GET. DIFFERENT DISHES RANGING FROM SALADS AND COLD CUTS TO GOURMET BURGERS AND PASTA'S. THE HOT FOOD DURING LUNCH IS SOME OF THE BEST AROUND MADE ONLY MINUTES BEFORE LUNCH BECAUSE IVE SEEN THEM DO IT AND THE PRICES FOR SOME REAL HOMEMADE ITALIAN FOOD IS THE SAME AS THAT FROM A FASTFOOD PLACE-ONLY DIFFERENCE IS ITS ACTUALLY GOOD AND GOOD FOR YOU. THE PEOPLE THERE KNOW YOUR NAME AFTER AWHILE AND HAVE ONLY BEEN ACCOMADATING TO ME. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PLACE FOR ANYONE FROM A YOUNG FAMILY TO AN ELDERLY COUPLE. BEEN SEEING THIS PLACE FOR AWHLE AND NEVER WENT IN. NEW TO TOWN FROM NYC AND THIS PLACE IS JUST LIKE HOME AND I HATE TO ADMIT IT BUT MAYBE EVEN BETTER. DEFINATELY WORTH A SHOT.

Great prices and excellent service. After only one week everyone knew my name! The quality is way past any of the stores around. The hot dishes during lunch are very affordable and always delicious. The soups are very good and always seem to be very fresh. Oh and the pizza is very thin/delicious and excellently priced. 2 pies for 17buks!! You can't beat that anywhere else.
I read some of the negative reviews on this site and really don't see what they are talking about. Everyone in the store is very helpful and friendly. As far as the quality concerns from some of the people, I have no idea where that is coming from. You won't get higher quality anywhere else in Union County.

Save yourself from aggravation. Amazed this guy stays in business because he treats customers, even ones who frequent his place like crap. He needs to learn that even if he makes a nice sadwich you can't be a total d-bag and expect people to come back. The food isn't that special and can be replicated so go somewhere where you will be appreciated!

Ordered a 3 foot sub for and received the wrong order. Noticed when I got home. When called to advise of mistake owner was rude, obnoxious and refused to take responsibility for his staff's lack of attention. Food may be good but customer service and attitude stink. Will never purchase anything from here again! BEWARE

Al's Deli is amazingly great. We ordered for christmas and everything was delish. We had load of raves. Their employees are so friendly and knowledgeable of their products. The owner is kind and generous as well. Their eggplant rollatini is excellent as well as their Penne. We order from their for 1-2x's a week.
If you live in Garwood or surrounding towns and haven't tried Al's...Stop in...I REALLY recommend it.
