A Restaurant Review
If you haven’t tried Mahzu’s hibachi steak, take my word for it, the hibachi steak from Mahzu is the juiciest, most luxurious steak you will ever have. With the exotic, flavorful ginger sauce on the side this is the most flavorful dish on the menu. However, there are many other delectable dishes.
As you enter the Mahzu in Aberdeen, you will see a majestic koi pond and some of the sit down area. If you keep walking, you will see more of the sit-down portion of the restaurant. If you keep going, you will see the sushi bar and the hibachi portion of the restaurant. I recommend going to the hibachi portion. It is the place to go if you are looking for an adventure of master chefs, crazy tricks using the food you are about to eat, and a thrilling time.
The experience of having your food being cooked in front of you is certainly one to remember. This luxury enables you to take in the smell of the food you crave and it eliminates the boredom of waiting for your food. This is definitely the place to bring your special someone, your family, or your friends just to hang out.
The hibachi menu consists of everything from fried rice to hibachi filet mignon. Included with every hibachi dinner, comes miso soup and a salad with ginger carrot dressing. The price range for entrees is from $11-$30. It's BYOB and that's not all. Next to the Mahzu in Aberdeen is an exquisite wine store. Talk about convenience. For those who enjoy a non-alcoholic beverage, I recommend the Japanese soda. Its delicious, sweet, bubbly flavor quenches your thirst after an excellent meal. People don’t just come for the hibachi and BYOB, they also come for the sushi. The sushi menu has a wide range of unique rolls. Most people love the Dynamite Roll, a spicy tuna and mango roll, wrapped inside out with pepper tuna and avocado on top. The fish is extremely fresh and the rolls melt in your mouth as if the roll was a piece of salt water taffy.
The host greets you at the door in a friendly manner. He quickly with no wait, finds you a seat of your liking. Within minutes, the waitress will ask what kind of beverage everyone wants. Soon, it is time to order. The waiter / waitress staff is felt to be friendly, but not overly friendly and attentive. For those with food allergy, the staff accommodates your cooking needs. For example, if one family member is allergic to shellfish, the cook makes sure to separately cook the shellfish away from all other foods, and never cross contaminate.
The conditions in the restaurant are clean. The bathrooms are extremely sanitary and there is always a good amount of soap ready to be used. The tables are always wiped down clean and the sushi bar looks as if you could eat right off of the counter. The sushi chef always wears his gloves when preparing your dish. When the hibachi cook comes with his cart of ingredients, everything looks as fresh as a nice peppermint. The hibachi counter where the food is cooked always looks clean and ready to go.
When it comes to dessert time, Mahzu doesn’t have a wide variety. However, their ice creams include special flavors such as green tea and red bean. For a special treat, come on your birthday to get a complimentary fried ice cream covered in whipped cream, chocolate syrup, sprinkles, and a candle on top. To add to that, the waiter sings Happy Birthday and is enthusiastic about it.
