My husband and I had lunch today in honor of our anniversary. We sat on the patio which offered beautiful views of the Hudson River. The weather was threatening and our waiter told us they would be pulling the movable wall closed as it was expected to get pretty stormy. It did. Unfortunately they didn’t pull the wall out until it was too late. I got wet from the spray of rain pounding down. Not a huge problem but I was surprised they didn’t close up sooner. On to the food. The waiter gave us time to look at the menu telling us we would be getting a basket of fresh bread. We never got it. We both ordered the crispy chicken salad for our meal. It came out pretty quickly. $22 for a plate of romaine lettuce, some croutons, little bits of something ( not sure what it was) and a cut up fried piece of chicken. The dressing didn’t have much taste. Frankly I was surprised at how mediocre the salad was. Shadows is a gorgeous place and I think strives to be a more upscale place for people to dine. But the lunch didn’t live up to the image. My husband thought it was ok. I was very disappointed. Having said all that I would try it again. But not in a rainy day.

Went today , a beautiful day to sit and eat outside. Everything we ordered was overpriced and not tasty. 160$ for 3 for lunch is very overpriced . Service was very slow. Even a glass of water took 15 minutes to get. If we enjoyed the food i wouldnt be giving a review.

On my trip back to NY to visit friends with my granddaughter we went to shadows . It was a lovely experience the view was spectacular an the food was excellent . If I ever get back to NY to visit again I will return to Shadows .
