review_stars 02/27/2015 - NNY Foods
As much as I love the Village Inn in Massena, this site has nothing to do with it. The address and phone number is correct but the menu is horribly wrong as well as I hope the previous comment. The servers there are all phenomenal as well as the owners when it comes to cooking or correcting a mistaken order. I have never seen them be rude nor would I expect that the owner go over to a table with a flashlight. I wish you would return to the restaurant to try one more time. perhaps something had happened previously that day. Not making excuses if that did happen to you unfortunately, but it truly is the best restaurant in Northern NY.

review_stars 08/07/2013 - Disappointed
Before reading this review I would like to bring it to the public's attention that the day after I had posted this same review on another popular site, the owner of the restaurant (same woman you will read about below) called my parents house about 6 times in a row. My mother finally answered after ignoring the annoyance for a while. The woman immediately began complaining to my mother about my review, insisted that she do something to get me to take it down etc... She was extremely rude and condescending and began to yell at my mother about me. She was attempting to bully and intimidate my parents. This woman also said that she would print out the following review, attach my name to it and put in her restaurant. I don't see how that will be positive for her business, but to each their own. I believe this person was under the mistaken impression that I live with my parents and am much younger than I actually am. In my book this was harassment. My mother was stunned after the "conversation." I don't even know how she knew my parents names to begin with. Oh, and to add one more note. In the course of her conversation with my mother, the owner tried to tell my mom that a filet mignon is a "very tough and dry piece of meat. I don't like a filet and will only eat it with a sauce." How do you own a restaurant and NOT know that a filet mignon is about the most tender piece of steak you can get?

Thank you for reading the above paragraph. I left out more of the insulting things that the restaurant owner said to my mother, but feel that I included enough for the readers to get the impression.

I would recommend that everyone avoid this restaurant, especially if you plan on ordering a steak. I ordered the filet mignon for $28.00, cooked rare, and was very much looking forward to enjoying it. When it came to the table it looked like a dried out piece of shoe leather and tasted even worse. The texture really was comparable to sawdust and there wasn't even a hint of seasoning. I politely asked the waitress if I could please get another steak as this one wasn't cooked the way I had ordered it. I apologized for the inconvenience and she went back to the kitchen to get a new meal for me. A few minutes later a woman who I assume was the owner comes stomping over to the table and practically threw the plate in front of me. She had a very sour look on her face and told me that the steak was cooked perfectly, told me to cut into it in front of her and proceeded to go on about how I should have ordered it "Philadelphia style." All the while she was holding a flashlight in her hand and shined it on the steak as I was cutting into it! How immensely unprofessional. It was completely unacceptable. She did nothing to try to make the experience positive for me. I tried the new steak and it was just as disgusting as the first one. When she stormed away from the table without another word I knew that I would absolutely never go back there. What a waste of money. Nasty food served by equally nasty people. If you want a truly delicious steak in Massena please do yourself a BIG favor and go to Violi's instead. They blow this sad excuse for a restaurant out of the water.
