I stopped there this past Sunday July 3rd. My food was terrible I didn't complain but if I had it to do over I wouldn't even pay for the non-eaten food. The other guest that was with me were sick all day on Monday so that should tell you something.

I am a frequent customer and I enjoy your food but this last time you folks dropped the ball on me. The order was wrong, I had to wait for them to fix it.( this was a to go order). They left one side on mine and my wife's order and the tea I got was not good.

My mother and i went for lunch today. The hostess that seated us never smiled or asked how we were doing. Then the waitress we had was just about as friendly as the hostess. The entire atmosphere was depressing. The chicken tenders were tough and the green beans were sent back because they didn't taste like green beans, the steamed vegtables were good. There were more green peppers and onions on my plate, than there was steak. I would not reccomend this restaraunt to anyone. I'm amazed that this place has any local customers.

For me I enjoyed THe Salad Bar and I have always gotten the sirloin tips with both peppers & onions / mushroom gravy I was pleased with my food , I do have tpo admit there needs to be some on @ the door @ all times even when it is slow and salad plates need to be atomatic brought to the table when added to the food choice

Box Car Grille had an advertisement in the paper about their Monday night special of "Buy one Meal and Get one Free" from 6:30 - 8 PM with live music. So four of us went last night and were told that we had to have a "coupon" from the ad in order to have the special Monday night deal. They even showed us the ad which no where said COUPON or that you had to bring the coupon or ad with you. Waitress apologized but that is what the owner said. We were already seated so ordered our dinners. I just want to warn all the people that I had told about this "great deal" did not exist without the bogus "coupon". Apparently they had many other people who were in the same boat as we were because they had a hand written paper with the ad they verbally called a coupon and if you did not have that with you, you could not have the deal.

My wife and I work nights and I get a total of four days; two weekends off a month. I am used to eating supper at around 9:00PM. The sign on the door of this restaurant says it closes at 10:00pm. Well it closes sometimes before 9:00 and always before 10:00pm. Tonight I went and set down and the waitress ask me "if I wanted something to eat, we are closed"; it was 9:23pm. Now to the food it has never been great but it is going down hill and the price is going up; at least from the last time I was able to catch them actually open and serving food. I am done with them.

Quality of food has went downhill while prices have went up. Very disappointed because this used to be a good place to eat.

Not the greatest place to eat in the world. But its okay. It's an old building so it doesn't feel very clean. The food is alright.

I had my mother a 75th surprise birthday party at boxcar Jan.19,2012. The food was very good. The service was very good.A party of 55 people, the waitrees done an outstanding job with service on time and kept everyone HAPPY. The host done a great job keeping a surprise until my mother enter the party room. She was truly surprised. Thanks everyone and especially to the guy who carried in the HUGH cake. I highly recommend the boxcar grill.

THEY HAVE THE BEST, FRESHEST SALAD BAR, I STOP IN TO GET A SALAD TO GO ON MY WAY HOME. THE APPLE SALAD IS DELICIOUS!

I've had nothing but great service! There are several outstanding waitresses there and the management is always friendly. I have seen plenty of people walk in there and be ugly and disrespectful (to the staff directly or indirectly- ie. making a mess at the salad bar and laughing about it). We eat there most Tuesdays and the staff knows what we want. They also have Becky the Balloon Lady! Our toddler loves her. I think it's a great restaurant in Statesville!

We ate a lunch that was good, and the service was also good. We were seated at a booth next to the bar, and the entire restaurant smelled like a dirty ash tray. I am looking forward to eating there now that smoking is banned.

Had a late lunch with my family and loved it. The salad bar was great and the service was very good.. The had a health grade of 101. Which is always good to see.

Food was not prepared according to the request and when it came back from the kitchen, it was cold and it took forever to get it back. Wait staff acted indifferent.

We met family there for a late lunch on Sun. May 17th - hardly anyone in the restaurant - seated quickly- but service virtually non-existent. Took orders and refilled glasses - but no asking how food was, no more rolls - we had a party of 6. We had to go search for the waitress to take our order then to get the bill. Dining area also not cleaned up after other patrons had left. Food was good after we got it.
