On Oct 21, 2007, I setup a 10:30A brunch with friends to meet my mom who was visiting from out of town. None of us had ever been to this restaurant but most of the reviews sounded promising. Upon arrival, we stood in the front to await someone to sit us. I saw a manager running around who kept zipping past us in & out the door trying to bus tables and serve guests. When I realized we'd been standing there a while (about 8 min) and no one had approached to at least ask about our party size, I tried to intercept him. I said "excuse me..." and he spoke over his shoulder "yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah...I'm getting to you, I'm getting to you." It was very snide, very rude and very much like as if he was inconvenienced by me and annoyed I'd done it. Other people in my party noticed and thought the same.

Finally, he sat us at a table set for four...he threw the menus down and walked away. I followed behind him as he went to clear a table nearby and said "hi, excuse me, what I was trying to tell you earlier is we need a table for six - not four - as I'm expecting others but when I tried to tell you you shut me down". And his response was a curt "yes, I did shut you down". He was averting my eyes and went on to say "okay then, you can have this table here just give me a moment." I went back to where we'd first been sat and told the group what he said, who were all as surprised as I was by how bold and overt his attitude was.

When the new table was ready he waved us over. I led the way and he mumbled, "sorry about that" and walked off. Never saw him again. As for the waitstaff, they seemed like they were either asleep (because they moved sooo slow and it took 15 minutes to get a cup of coffee and hot chocolate for two people) and/or did not understand (I think there were possible language barriers and we had to make sure they knew what we were ordering.

But, yep, never saw that manager again. Our party discussed how some of us had read the same reviews and now figure any of the bad ones must have been about this guy. I mean, I've been in NY over 4 years and never experienced food service THAT bad. My mother stated how someone like him should be careful because you never know who's watching or waiting to be served...his behavior could have been taped for MySpace or YouTube. And I wish I had the means to post a video of it now!

Other than that, the food was standard. Not bad, not excellent. But not at all worth a bad attitude.

Me and my family and other couple of friends with their kids visited NY second week of October and stayed at the Hilton for 6 days. We had breakfast everyday at Lou’s and the last day we also went for lunch. I can only recommend it! The food is quite good, but the best of this place is the service. It was very quick, and all the staff was extremely nice and friendly. We were amazed that one of the guys remembered every day what each of us had ordered the day before… and we were eight people with our own peculiarities!! Price is very reasonable considering what we paid in other places for food and service half as good. Definitively in Lou’s we had the opportunity to taste the American flavor and they helped to make our visit especially pleasant. It is a pity that it is located so far away from where I live and work.
