I work in the neighborhood, and our office orders from Majestic every couple of weeks and put it on our corporate account. (=FREE lunch for me! ) But tragically, this puts me in a real bind: Will I accept a FREE lunch, if that lunch is from Majestic Deli?

NO WAY!

My first experience was ordering a club sandwhich, which surprised me in a horror-movie kind of way. I didn't know Ham could be so spongey and wet, and despite that they piled it on with Mayonaise, the first bite I took had no flavor. None at all. I felt like there was something wrong. I could see the pinkish glow of the "water ham", which was ripped by my teeth, and I know that my mouth was full of wet, wilted ham, but there was no flavor. Even the mayonaise was oddly bland. I thoguht my tast buds must have been malfunctioning, perhaps I had a paralized my tounge? Then I took a bite of the pickle that accompanied my sandwich, and that's when I knew something was wrong. The pickle tasted like a dirty ham sandwich, sprayed by windex, and left overnight in a sink full of dishwater.

I spat out the strange, bland mixture and wondered how my free lunch had gone so wrong. I guess there's no such thing as a free lunch afterall.

How hard can it be to make a club sandwhich? Then I realized - they don't care about the quality of the "food", because they have the location that provides them with a nearly endless supply of hapless tourists who will only eat there once.

If I had paid for my sandwhich myself, it would have cost about $9 - and I would have been very upset about wasting my money on what is probably the lowest-denomination of stuff that can be labelled as "food"

Avoid this place!

We scheduled a tour that picked us up across the street from this Majestic Deli. So, of course we needed to use the restroom and get some snacks before the tour. Our tour guide Tom suggested the Majestic as a place to go. So, we went in used the facilities came downstairs and purchased some cookies and snacks for the tour. The food we got from them was very fresh and great tasting. Now for the bad part... When we returned from our tour we were hungry, so we went to that same deli to use the restroom and maybe this time stay and eat some of their great food we had already sampled. We were on our way upstairs where the restrooms are located, when one of the employees stopped us and said "No service upstairs!". So we said what... and he repeated "No serice upstair, restroom for customers only". Now how do they know if we were going to be a customer after we relieved ourselves in their restroom? We did the same thing last year with no trouble. I know I will never go there again when I am in town. How can you identify a potential customer or a vagrant wanting to use the restroom? That is very poor practice for any business.
