Always great food and service!
01/24/2011 - burrell resident
What used to be a place with great bar food is no longer...ordered a dozen and a half wings and fries over the weekend....total was over $30...talk about inflation of prices ! The wings are not what they used to be...some of them were overcooked-chicken was dried out! Portion size of the fries were a lot smaller ....the ownership of this establishment has gone downhill....this place was the best when the chic brothers had it....
03/14/2010 - Disappointed!!
we entered the restaurant about 8:30 on wing nite, there was 1 larger table finishing their meal. we ordered a pitcher & wings. As I sat facing the kitchen area, a women kept looking out the window in the door,(at least 30 times) as if she could NOT wait for that table to leave. when they did they raced to clean it up, then they continued to put all the chairs on the table as if they were closing any minute. The waitress then started to sweep the hard floor with a broom, which was only 6 ft from my food!! Then she has the nerve to ask if she could run the sweeper!! I was trying to eat!! by this time its about 9;30 or so. We asked what time they closed & she said 11!!! I couldnt believe it, talk about feeling unwanted!! sorry to be such a bother!! As far as the wings go, they were small & overcooked! (they use to be delicious) I will NEVER return to the dining room at this restaurant(if u can call it that) again! We ordered 2 fish sand a week later...to go of course (they use to be the best in the Valley) They are NOT anymore! Its disappointing this use to be one of the best rest in Burrell! Now I guess its just another BAR!

This business is on it's fourth owner is known for it's delicious paprika chicken wings and salad dressing. What the business has gained in cleaning up it's interior by subtle remodeling, it has lost in service, quality, pricing, and personnel. Once a working man's bar, it has now some of the highest beer and drink prices in the Lower Burrell / New Kensington area. While the wings are still top-notch, the pasta specials run on Sunday are overpriced and small in portion size. The cost of a simple meal for two or three people, including drinks, can be outrageous. You can eat and drink much cheaper at virtually any other bar/restaurant in town, or even the Olive Garden or virtually any other chain restaurant. More importantly and downright concerning are that the prices for food and drink are often scandalous depending on who waits on your party. Bring a calculator and keep track of what you order, or you could be shocked. If you pay by credit watch out for the tall skinny bartender with funny hair. There have been several reported cases of inflated charges by her. It's best to eat in the dining area and avoid this theft. Overall, this business will live on as it has for 50 years, but it's sad that it just is not what it used to be.
