Tonight 3/25/23, we went to visit this Kabuki in Tempe. It was about 15 of us. It was super busy, we can tell. We’ve waited for about almost 2 hours to finally get a table. I don’t know how long this manager has been there but when our food came, I asked for a fork but our waiter is busy serving other customers so I asked the first staff I saw who was walking to the back.He happened to be the manager but I wasn’t aware at that moment. He left but never came back. I’ve waited for about 10 minutes, then, I’ve waited for another 10 minutes. So I started to wonder. I started looking around and saw him by the front. So I came up to him and asked him if he had the forks I’ve requested. He gave me an attitude and told me that he had to tell the staff in the back to wash some more forks. He told me that “it’s a Japanese restaurant and who asks for forks”. I can tell this guy is a hot head thinking he is the manager. don’t know if it’s because I’m wearing a “USAF retired hat” or because I was brown skin.I was in the military for 23.5 years and stuff like that doesn’t bother me.But i felt like this scrunny Caucasian manager thinks getting forks for his customer isn’t in his job description anymore. So I snapped at him and told him he could’ve came back and told me that instead of me waiting for him. Then, got loud at me.He even accused me of threatening him with a chopstick. Lol. I told him he is very disrespectful.Well, at this point we are both yelling and making a scene so
I decided to walk back to our table and eat my food.He then told me that “You are done” basically threatening me that he is going to kick us all out.I walked back to our table and he followed me.He started running his mouth telling the people in our table that I’ve disrespected him.One of my friend started talking to him & started being irate to her. This guy still kept running his mouth. At that point, he is disturbing everyone’s dinner. Then, I told him that he sucks being a manager.I can tell that this manager isn’t very well liked by his staff. His supervisor came and we told her what happened. At this point, I just want to eat my dinner because I was so hungry.I don’t know if this is a recurring incident with this manager but reading some of the reviews, If this is the same manager, he needs to be replaced because apparently, he cannot handle the job being a manager. And if some people are complaining about the service, it isn’t the waiters and staff’s fault. It’s the managers! He should be taking responsibility for everything. Our waiter was excellent! I believe that the staffs are doing the best they can but with this manager, I don’t think he is fit for the job.In the end, I came up to this guy and apologized but if the role was reversed, I would’ve been the one to have apologized. This manager needs to be replaced and I guarantee service will get better. When staffs and workers like their manager, workers perform better.
