Went to Caffe Dolce Vita for the Prix-Fixe dinner special. $49.95 for 2 people - 3 courses and a choice of a bottle of wine or pitcher of sangria is definitely value driven, on a night we splurge to go out!

Nice Italian bread first. Then dinner. I had the veal parm. Excellent tomato sauce. Good cheese. But 1 of the 2 slices of veal was rather tough and gnarly. My date had veal saltimbocca. The brown gravy was just that, like canned brown gravy. There were a lot of mushrooms but they were canned. She opted for the mixed veggies. There was a good portion on frozen carrots and other veggies. For the $20.00 + price of the dinners, we expected much better. Fortunately we had a coupon for 1 free dinner. We will not be returning.

Their website states fresh sauteed vegatables. Don't believe it! And we also felt the wait staff was rather slow. Our waitress was sitting at the bar when we were seated and took over 10 minmutes to turn around and see us. Once we finished dinner, she was nowhere to be found and again we waited over 10 minutes for her to appear and get the check.

Have visited about 4 times this summer. Each time I swear I will never go back. Wait staff is horrible. We have complained everytime and not even an apoligy, just that they are new....Breakfast is excellent but not worth waited 1/2 hr for waitstaff to notice you breakfast should not be a 2 hour event with NO COFFEE even after we asked 2x like everyone says there are 2 many places to get bad service.

Having heard that they now offer dinner we decided to try it out. I had a very nice salmon dinner for $16. We sat outside on a pleasant patio. The service was very slow. Our waitress was very ineperienced and there didn't seem to be anyone in charge of the wait staff. Would go back but might wait until they get their act for dinner together a bit more.

This resturant was a real dissapointment. Too many rules fom where we could sit to not being able to order an appetiser before ordering the meal. The food was ok at best. The atmosphere inside was not that great. Would have liked to sit outside with a party of 8 but would not accomadate. Too many great resturants up the hill to choose this one. Think twice.

Don't bother! The food is okay but the management seems to think they're the only Italian restaurant on Federal Hill so they don't have to treat their customers with any respect.
